Nat From The Story 'The Birds'

I couldn’t help but feel a connection between the character Nat from the story “The Birds”. I also had an experience similar to Nat when he had the sense of not knowing what was going to happen next fear of the birds when they attacked his house and family. My experience took place in India when I had an encounter with a stray dog.
During the summer of 2008 my family and I took a trip to India to visit our family and friends. In India it is common to see stray dogs walking on the streets. My cousin and I had gone out in the morning to take a walk around the neighborhood. As we were walking, we approached a group of five or six dogs. Usually we wouldn’t be intimidated if we walked past stray dogs, but this was different. The dogs were growling as we approached and the closer we got, the more hostile the dogs got. Just as we were about to cross to the other side of the street to avoid the pack of dogs, they started barking at us, and the first thing we did was start running across the street to get away.

It was fairly early in the morning so there wasn’t really anyone to help us. We kept running as the dogs got closer and closer. We didn’t get very far until one of the dogs got a hold of my lower leg and bit right into it. The pain surged up my leg and I didn’t know what to do, neither did my cousin. I kicked my leg out and the dog let go and by this time there were some people who were also walking that came over and got rid of the dogs. We barely made it back home with my leg dripping with blood and the throbbing pain. I had to get a large bandage and three shots after that incident and I’ll never forget

Dogs are becoming a standard part of families’ lives and are truly a man or woman’s best friend. However, how can we guarantee that all dogs will not cause harm to our society and not bring in violence and aggression? The solution is Breed-Specific Legislation which are laws that try to control negative animal behavior such as biting or other attacks by restricting or completely outlawing certain aggressive breeds. It is a common misconception that BSL only refers to banning breeds of dogs however, this is not the case. BSL are precise restrictions for the more violent breeds of dogs including pit bulls and rottweilers and these laws aware owners on how these breeds require proper attention and care to be able to fit into a benevolent society.…

One night, when I was still a scrawny, little kitten, my mom took me and my siblings to a temple, and afterwards left us under the shade of a mangosteen tree at the temple’s yard while she was looking for food. She said we would be safe there since a temple is a place for human to pray and they are not allowed to do mischief there. Hearing my mom said that did make me feel safe, but that feeling of safety did not stay for long.…

In affirmation to Jeremy Rifkin, we should treat animals humanely because they also have a heart that can feel pain and a brain that can think.…

That is a type of question that many organizations are asking themselves today.
