In the 2016 election Trump promised to deport all “illegals,” many to a country that they have never seen. Many of those “illegals” are the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and their families. Social justice is also set in place to help the defend the DACA recipients, to keep them out of harm’s way, and for them to have the same opportunities in life. Social welfare is set to get the basic needs met, as well as getting people access to social justice. Social and political action have four different steps, “(1) engage in social and political action that seeks to ensure that all people have equal access to many different things they require. (2) Expand choice and opportunity for all people. (3) Promote conditions that encourage respect for cultural and social diversity. (4) Act to prevent and eliminate domination, exploitation, and/or discrimination on others. All can be used in the discussion of DACA, but only two really stand out. Social workers are engaging in political action to make sure that people are being treated as equals” (Code of Ethics, 2011).
