Eugène Delacroix was an French Romantic artist born on 26 April 1798 and died on 13 August 1863. HIs paintings often told stories of conflict and quite often had nudity and violent themes. His paintings often used dull or more sublet colours such as the red in the painting of the left. However, few of his paintings had bright colours to emphasise some important features of the paintings such as the flag in Liberty Leading the People. In the time that Delacroix was alive there was lots of conflict as this was after the french revolution which was a time to celebrate with it being an important time in french history. This shows how he was quite patriotic towards his country as he celebrated frances battles and the end of the monarchy through
