Last night, Nas along with his closest friends and family celebrated The Don's 40th birthday with a classy affair, at New York City's Avenue NYC. The Hennessy sponsored event invited guests to sip on the popular cognac as they dined on a carefully selected five course meal which included Shrimp Scampi, Lobster Fra Diavolo and Strawberry Shortcake for desert. The crowd partied all night with music by New York nightlife fixture, DJ M.O.S. rocking the turntables. Dressed in a pink tuxedo, the Queens native partied all night, rapping to his favorite hip hop classics from the eighties before jumping on the mic to thank all the guest for attending. Ten years ago, aging in hip hop was considered taboo. Similar to other entertainment industries, getting older in hip hop only proved to be wise if you were retiring soon. At the age of 39, Nas has changed the game in not only that aspect, but in many other aspects in hip hop, solidifying his position as one of hip hop's greatest of all time (G.O.A.T.). Beginning with his debut appearance on Main Source's "Live at the BBQ", Nas' fresh and hard-hitting verse displayed a master level of lyrical technique which he further proved when he delivered 1994's classic "Illmatic", considered to be a bible of hip hop.
