Every story has a message or a purpose, but it is not easy to decode them at a first glance. Storytelling involves using one’s imagination and critical thinking skill. One of the starting points for interpreting and writing about fiction/nonfiction is to analyze the elements of narrative. In this unit, we will explore elements of narrative through Ray Bradbury’s short story, “All Summer in a Day.” We will spend some time analyzing setting, characterization, and conflict while practicing identifying theme and decoding author’s message.
