Story is an important factor in the education of an individual and its life. Our lives are based on never-ending stories that make our identities as people. Trough stories we share our passions, emotions and feelings on a matter. Stories has been with us throughout our existence, being a powerful tool to make changes in the whole history. Then, Christian stories have been another dominant mechanism to spread the gospel of God around the world and demonstrate the reality of Christianism. According to the feature article issued in 2013 “The Christian Story and Our Story: Narrative Pedagogy in Congregational Life” by Benjamin Espinoza, Christian educators have known the importance of storytelling “to illustrate the theological truths” of the Bible’s stories. In his article, Espinoza tried to inform and persuade the reader of the importance of narrative pedagogy in the practice of storytelling in the Christian environment. Additionally, he wants the reader to understand the reasons for Christian educators should implement narrative pedagogy in their everyday teaching ministries. Espinoza defines narrative pedagogy as “The infusion of our own story into our teaching ministry” (Espinoza, 433). Espinoza claims that even though the teaching …show more content…
Narrative pedagogy brings a lot of opportunities for Christian educator to share their knowledge and stories with their students, so they can understand better the message of God in every story and parable that is found in the Bible. Narrative pedagogy, more than a mean of identity transformation and a community story-sharing, is the transformation of the act of telling the stories of our past to telling the stories of our present and future.
