Improved Essays
I never thought that I would be scuba diving 40 feet deep under water. I had gone snorkeling before, but it was nothing compared to it. When my parents told me I could go scuba diving I was filled with joy. Last summer was the first time I felt like I wanted to do something so bad, but when it came time to do it, I felt like I would be sick. Scuba diving taught me that I need to calm down and not worry so much.

My parents had been planning a trip to Italy and asked me if I wanted to go scuba diving. I answered so fast as I thought about being under water and swimming with all the beautiful fish and aquatic life. My parents had researched for a guy for me and my brothers to take lessons with. We were staying for two weeks and we were going scuba diving on one of the last days. Through the weeks I hadn't stopped thinking about the dive. When the day had come I was so happy. We went to the dock where we would get on the boat. That's when I started to feel nervous. The ride to the dive sight was nerve racking and when we got their it got worse. I was one of the last people to get in the water because my suit wouldn't go on. It eventually went on and when I got in the water it was time to go down. Before we went down my dad took his mask of and said calmly, "Just breathe," and then he went down. When I was swimming I felt like I couldn't breathe. I hated it. I wanted to go back up and just float on the surface. I was in the front of the group so I was the first person to go through the cave. Normally, my brothers were right behind me but they never came. My dad went to find them and came out holding Nicholas. The instructor took Nick up to the surface and then came back down without him. I was even more scared and I started to suck the air out of my tank. My dad kept making the motions for me to breathe slowly so I stopped and just breathed. Our dive was basically already done so we started to head up. As soon as we got up I asked Nick what happened and he said he just felt sick. We went to our second dive and I felt more relaxed. We swam around and I enjoyed all the bright colors and assortment of fish. At the end of the day I was able to drive the boat back to the

Marine Science has always been a particularly fond past time of mine. Ever since I was the mere age of three, while sitting in a bathtub, I had an inseparable fascination with the ocean and the creatures that inhabit it. From the otherworldly giant tube worms situated on volcanic vents, to the serene basking shark meandering through the current, all of it showcased the diversity of the world beneath the surface of the waves.…

It was a hot summer, sunny day in Florida usually like most others but today was special. I was going deep-sea fishing for the very first time, my mom told me to put on a lot of sunscreens, so I don’t get sunburn. My family and I got dressed and got into the car and made our way for Pompano Beach pier, where the charter boat would be leaving from. We all packed into the boat like a can of sardens, the captain started the engine and we looked over at the glistening deep blue ocean, the seas where calm, when we arrived at the fishing spot the mates gave us fishing poles and told us to drop the baits in the water, a few seconds later the rod is bent over and the line is screeching like crazy, my parents and the captain start yelling at me to reel…
