"GO, GO, GO!" I yelled running through the hallways of our high school. "Get to the workshop they will have the most supplies." Said the other survivor, as we are tripping over books and chairs from failed barricades. Once we arrived to the workshops, we slammed a chair up to the doors since they only lock on the outside and we didn’t have the keys. We decided to rest for a while before we barricaded up more, so that we could have as much energy as possible. We rested for about 20 minutes until we heard something outside the door trying to get in. Having a paranormal experience can be bloodcurdling, but it can also be a phenomenal experience to look back on. When I was about thirteen years old, I had my first experience with a Ouija board. A Ouija board is used to communicate with people that are no longer among the living. I was with my uncle Elvis, who is my mother’s brother. My uncle took me to his friend’s apartment, and at that moment he pulled out what appeared to be a very ancient Ouija board.…

As president of my high school's Key Club, it is my job to organize service activities for our members to volunteer in. One of these activities is the local haunted house sponsored by the Front Royal Little League. This fundraiser for the little league started when Mr. Bryan Binnix stepped in to save it from plummeting. Mr. Binnix discovered that the program wasn't making enough profits until his brother, Mr. Bobby Binnix, wanted to make a change, thus they proposed the idea of having an annual haunted house. Since the first year in 2012, the fundraiser has raised approximately $9,500.00.…

I stood there as the sweat ran down my palms, I looked out the lightly tinted windows from my classroom. I could see my pale skin, shaking, watching drops of sweat hit the floor. My honey-colored eyes turned dark as a marble. I watched every cop frozen with unexplainable fear in their eyes. There they stood, stiff and surrounding our school like scavenging vultures.…

The next thing I know the footsteps stopped. Everything in the house was silent. I gathered all the courage I had and decided to get up and look to see what it was, or if it was gone for that matter. I cautiously tiptoed to the door. I opened it a crack, just enough for…

It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

Beat the Feet As previously mentioned, I spent my childhood, teen, and young adult summers at Camps Winacka and Whispering Oaks. At these camps, like most west coast camps, new groups of campers arrive weekly. To help the counselors and campers quickly learn names, each unit plays name games during down time on the first day. On a safety level, this prevented situations like, “Counselor, my friend fell down and got hurt!”…
