Personal Narrative: My Dichotom With My Cousin Wayne

Narrative essay One Friday night, I was at Lake Fort Phantom with my cousin Wayne. We were at the part of the lake that the excess water ran over into the river. I parked my truck in the grass and out of the way from any incoming traffic. I locked my truck as usual. Then, we grabbed our fishing equipment, and walked to the edge of the lake. The moon was full, and the lack of clouds allowed the light to illuminate the massive body of water. I threw my hook into the water with ease because there was almost no wind. Wayne threw his line in with no effort also. After that, he grabbed us both a Dr. Pepper. My mom had told us before we left that we needed to be home before 12 o’clock. It was getting late. I could not check the time because I had …show more content…
I asked my cousin,”Will you go get my phone out of the truck so, i can check the time?” He ran to the truck then yelled back,”It’s locked.” I reached into my pocket to feel for my keys. Then, my heart dropped. My keys were not in my pocket. I began to shove my hands in my pockets in the hope I just missed them the last time. They were nowhere to be found. I sprinted to my truck and pulled on all of the door handles to make sure it was completely locked. I was furious with myself. We knew that my uncle lived about 5 miles down the road, so we started to run in the state of panic. Our parents had no way of getting a hold of us, so we thought this would be our best option. The road had no street lights. We were relying on only the moonlight to see the ground. The lake was to our right, and mesquite trees covered all the land to the left of the road. Occasionally as we were running, a car would pass us. We were so exhausted that we began to wave the cars down. We were not successful. The cars that passed acted like we were not there. They would pass us without slowing down. After 20 minutes of waving for help, a man stopped in a large four door truck. Having faith that this man meant us no harm, we hopped into his truck. The man was in …show more content…
I would have then been able to think about a different way, other than the locked doors, to get into the truck. This experience has taught me that I shouldn't panic in a bad situation. I should remain calm and think through what I am

As hard as my relationship was with Thomas, I am grateful for what I learned from being with him. I learned that I am a strong and an independent person. I didn’t need him to make me feel secure and happy. According to Mendenhall (2014), intimacy dances work best when they support both people (Mendenhall, 2014b). I won’t sacrifice myself to a relationship again because the outcome will never make me happy.…

The Stalker in Ontonagon It was a cool summer day in Ontonagon Michigan. As I was sitting on the hood of the silver truck, watching my little cousins play in the grass, little trickles of rain ran down my chestnut brown hair. All of my little cousins were playing “Ghost In the Graveyard” in the soggy grass. After twenty minutes or so all the kids were lying in the soggy grass, exhausted. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a man.…

I turned the key over and got nothing, not an attempt from the starter, or a light on the dashboard. The battery was dead, very dead. As I took the jumper cables out of my dad’s car and set them on the icy driveway I kept repeating “Positive, to Positive, Negative to Ground” over and over in my head. I put the cables on both cars, started my dad's car and then proceeded to wait for twenty minutes. After what felt like years, I got in my car, put the clutch in, put my foot on the break and turned the key.…

After interviewing my Uncle Todd, I have seen what it is like to serve on jury duty from a first hand experience. It seems like a very cool and unique process that I think we are lucky to be apart of. When asking him how he felt when he received the letter in the mail calling upon him to receive jury duty he said, “I was happy to just get a day off work, but I still wondered if there was a way that I could get out of this.” As most people probably feel, my Uncle Todd was not too excited about having to serve, but was at least happy to get a day off work. He told me that the questions he was asked were what you think they would ask you.…

After winding down the small mountain and through the little town, we were now on one eleven where seeing more cars became a more common sight. With the windows down and no worry in the world besides the homework that was awaiting my arrival when I got home, I would soon realize that I would not be going home that night, instead going somewhere else. As we kept driving arriving soon at our destination for the afternoon, I glanced out the window and saw the speed limit saying sixty now realizing that, that was the last time my emotions and feelings would be the same before the fear suddenly made its way into my head. Looking up from glancing out the window, I saw a golden brown van making its way from the interstate about to pull out onto the highway we were now on, only realizing the closer we approached the van the sooner we saw the elderly lady who forgot to check for cars, but by then it was to…
