16 November 2017 The Great Bottle Drive of 2016 Close your eyes and think for a second, put yourself in someone else's shoes. There are thousands of kids in the United States that are in foster care. These kids have been physically and mentally hurt and abused. These kids have been taken from their homes and some of them separated from their brothers and sisters. The brothers and the sisters being taken from home to home and not being wanted. All these kids want to do is to have a normal life. All these kids want to do is, feel free to be a kid. We had raised over $500 to go buy presents for these kids and were planning on doing it over a long period of time. When it had come time to go buy the presents Kallie had found out that her father had gotten out of prison and was looking for her. She knew that she had to move far away from him so he couldn't find her. Kallie Zane and their foster parents moved from Michigan to California. I knew I had to finish this project. We had raised so much money and wasted so much time doing this that I had decided to continue the project. I few weeks after Kallie had left I slowly started to buy little things for the children at Whaley. By the time it was mid December, I had spent all of the money Kallie and I had raised and it was time to wrap them. It took me a total of three days to wrap all of the presents. Once I was done wrapping the presents, I was still getting money from our family and friends. As we walked through the long hallway Kallie and I took a picture with the coordinator of Whaley, even though Kallie had obviously been there before we got a tour of the campus and got to meet some of the children there. There was a little boy there named Sam, who got his present first. Sam was about five years old and was brought to whaley when his parents had died in a car accident just about six months before. When Sam opened his present and saw that he had gotten a new Batman action figure he was so happy. My heart just melted when I saw his little face light up. Which made me know that all the time and hard work I had put into this was payed
