Personal Narrative: The Challenge That I Overcame

The Challenge that I Overcame Many kids while growing up learn to speak in English, but I was different. While I was growing up, my parents would always speak to me in Gujarati. My parents came from India to give my brother and I a better education. Despite the fact that my parents were not aware with the English language, they still did not hesitate to give me that knowledge. I remember in my early childhood years I was educated in both English and at the same time in Gujarati because my Mom did not want me to obliterate from my culture. I now realize what hardship my parents went through to provide me that education. The struggle of learning two different languages at once really made it difficult for me to learn to adapt and communicate in an English speaking country, but however over the years I have learned to overcame the struggles of learning to read and write, because of this I was thankful for what my parents had taught me. My kindergarten teacher was the one that accurately made me realize what I was truly passionate about in reading and writing. My earliest memory of writing were the times my mom made me sit me down and trace every single letter of the alphabet. This was always such a challenge because at the same time I was learning how to read and write in Gujarati. My kindergarten teacher had suggested that I do ESL classes. During those lessons I would I always think of my self as a late bloomer in reading and writing. At first I remember the frustration that I was in because I was not at the same mark academically as the rest of the kids in my class were. But as time went on , and by my 3rd class of ESL I was starting to excel so fast and I was writing complete
