Narrative Essay Growing up I never really much appreciated the sound of music. Never had a care or thought of it in the way I could have now. Not up until the summer of 2001; my oldest sister, of the two, would always drive around in our town playing some of her favorite alternative rock tracks. I could almost feel myself hearing Stone Temple Pilots again. At that moment I was pretty sure I found my newest liking, and that would be rock and roll. I’d be at home watching MTV on the TV. It would all be rap and hip-hop for the most part but when stuff like Radiohead or Foo Fighters came on I’d be so intrigued on how well they constructed a song. I knew I would want to be like them one day. After some time I eventually forced my parents into getting my first guitar, at the age of ten. This thing was beaten …show more content…
When I first met him I actually hated him, thought he was a little annoying brat. Didn’t realize he was a very well influenced musician, such as myself, till later on. He told me that he played for some time and also knew a little piano. I had to get CJ to play with Louie and me. At one point I convinced him to play with us, and that’s how the first band was formed. CJ came to the house, holding a big 300-watt amp in one hand and a guitar in the other. We headed to the attic to start unloading our stuff. He unzipped his guitar case to unveil the aqua Les Paul he carried. I was jealous the first time I saw that beauty of a guitar; it’s what made me get a new guitar, the Gibson SG. CJ plugged that sucker in and started shredding solos like I’ve never heard before. Cool Korn As I sat down with one of the coaches, who is the defensive backs coach on the Tennessee State University (TSU) football staff, I noticed how Coach Korn reminded me of myself. My interviewee was Coach Korn, since I play offensive line, he is not one of my coaches. Coach Korn and I have had our occasional hi and bye’s, but until this interview I knew not much of him. I noticed a few things, one being that he has been interviewed before because when we sat down he showed no signs of nervousness, second is that he kept his hood on throughout the entire interview, and third was that Coach Korn did not speak with a loud voice but at the same time I understood his…

I was well versed in all things ranging from AC DC to Zeppelin, but it was an honest mistake on my mother’s part that changed everything. Given that my younger brother Rob and I hadn’t even cracked the double digits yet, and were too young to take public transit, we had become accustomed to sending our busy mother to A&A Records or International Musicland to pick up albums in exchange for allowances and ten-dollar birthday cheques from grannies, aunties, and god parents.…

One of the many things I have learned in my short sixteen years is that everyone is unique in a way that is exclusive to them. Everyone has special hobbies, activities, or patterns their life revolves around. My life revolves around spending time talking with family and friends, learning new things, going school, listening music, writing poetry, reading, painting, and of course work. These are just a few of the things I am writing about in this essay. I would also add that without these key parts my life would be exceptionally dull.…
