Personal Narrative-Come On Girls Wake Up !

“Come on girls wake up!”
My first instinct was to pull the covers over my head, turn the other way, and get up in ten minutes. When I reached for my blanket I remembered, I was in a sleeping bag in a tent on camp Pendleton, seven hours away from a sand-free warm bed. There was a quiet pause for a few seconds where you could hear the soothing sound of the waves nearby before my friends started to wake.
Next to me Mackenzie groaned and yelped in pain. “Sister Jarvis, could I have the aloe?” She struggled to sit up with more groaning.
“Carlie! Could you get the aloe?”
“ When I’m done with it, just a second.” My fellow camper replied.
Sister Jarvis turned her head to me, “Amber! You should put on aloe too, you look like you were sunburned bad!”

I looked at the back of my hand and saw bright red sunburned skin just like my toes and face. Scanning everyone else I saw tired expressions and sunburns all over; faces, backs, arms, and legs. Mariyah was putting aloe all over her back which was red, except for white lines from her swimsuit. I wasn’t the only one with sun problems, but why did my face swell up unlike everyone else?
Sister Jarvis sat next to me. “ I still can’t figure out what happened! Do you think it could be a food allergy or something like that? Have you eaten anything new lately?”
“Well,” I thought. I had tried a lot of new things this exhausting, yet exciting, week. I had done more ocean activities than I had ever in my life like surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, night walks on the beach, camped on the beach, tried different foods because they were the only thing available, however they were really good. Food! “ I had never had those chicken patties we used for sandwiches before, maybe that was it?”
“Maybe,” Sister Jarvis had a thoughtful pause, “ I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” she shook her head not knowing what to do and got up to rally the girls to get them to pack up their

When people act obnoxious and disrespectful, I would just like to go up to them and say “I was at about six there. Don’t make me go to ten”, a quote said by Dale in Step Brothers. My pet peeves involve the disrespectful actions of high school students. It really irks me when people in band just don’t play their music correctly or march properly. If we have been practicing the same song for a short amount of time, then I understand if most don’t pick up the notes right away.…

Burnt, peeling skin slipped off my sun beaten arm. A salty tear dropped down my face, and I swallowed it, soaking in every bit of bitter liquid I could taste. The earliest I can remember learning that my gender was different and treated differently from someone else’s was probably when I was five or six years old. I always had to wear a dress or an outfit that was always pink. I had to play with dolls and only do things that little girls would normally do and I of course noticed that boys didn’t have to do anything similar to me so I realized that I was being treated differently simply because I was a girl.…

Annabelle was being comforted by her brother and friends while Sonia sat far from her clique to prevent any further accidents, they were an even bigger problem. Olen walked to her, after he hung up, and began to question why she had committed herself to hurt Annabelle if they were sat far apart for reason. I met strangers who eventually became great friends and sisters, they give me advice, a shoulder to cry on, they were the cheerleaders along the way edging me to keep my going going further , they gave me strength, optimism and support, they inspired me but most of all they understood fully what I was going through , not because they were clever or read up on broken and battered women , they have been there before ,just like me .They even understood when I told them I still loved Daniel , that's how sweet they were .My friends were the rose petals the wind had spontaneously blown onto my dusty road, they experiences paved the road for me making it so much easier and for that I will forever be grateful . As a girl, the phrases, “you play like a girl” or “you’re a girl, you can’t do that” have always been words that are casually just thrown around, yet it causes flames to come out of my ears. Starting when I was about three, I was a sporty kid always running around. I liked to play soccer with the boys teams, since they were much more physical and would roughly push each other on the hard ground rather complaining when a nail got broken, or hair got pulled. I liked to play baseball rather than softball because I could throw a baseball with much more force than I could ever throw a softball, it was like a speeding semi truck on a highway. I enjoyed playing basketball even though I knew I was, and probably always would be, the shortest one on…

For many years I thought that I was being too picky about my romantic relationships. Being outspoken and an independent thinker, I am unlikely to ever find a partner whose political, spiritual and recreational appetites match my own. Although, in trying to be very non-judgmental and accepting of others I went overboard in my tolerance. Everyone has flaws, but what is too much to overlook? I had no clue, until experiencing two very unhealthy relationships, which have shocked me to the core, growing old alone is not something to be dreaded.…
