Narrative Essay: Sarah's Mistake

Improved Essays
Knock Knock! There were visitors outside of the home. Sarah was in her room doing homework after only the first day of school. It was a difficult first day for her. She was starting her senior year and was hoping that she would be able to score a boyfriend this year. But she was made fun of for her outfit and her hair. The new girl who had moved in had instantly become the leader of the popular group and decided that Sarah should be abused first. Sarah looked at her wall depressingly. If only she could be as popular as the new girl. Mr. Richards questioned, “Sarah, aren’t you going to get the door? It’s your new mother.”
“There is no way I will call her Mom. But yeah, I can get the door,” Sarah replied.
She opened the door as her new mother

You can call me Mom or Carrie. Whichever you like. And this, is your new sister….”,
“Janice.” the new girl at the school interrupted.
Sarah thought she might just throw up. She would have to live with her bully now.
Mr. Richards came out of the kitchen to greet his officially new family. He had married Carrie a month ago and decided that she move in with them. They settled in to eat dinner and then everyone helped move in.
“And this, will be your new room,” Mr. Richards said to Janice.
Sarah questioned, “So, is she moving in with me? Mr. Richards nodded his head.
A few weeks passed by and the homecoming dance was around the corner. Sarah did not think she would get asked and Janice was frantically waiting for someone to ask her. She would come home everyday yelling mean comments about how other girls who were “ugly” had been asked and she still had no date. It was two weeks from the dance on a Friday morning when a new boy came to school. His name was Brock Turner. He was tall, handsome, and very kind. He was in all of Sarah’s classes except English. He sat next to her and would talk to her a lot. She really enjoyed his company and started to like him a lot. There was just one problem. Janice liked him

Throughout the rest of that day Janice flirted with Brock about as much as anyone could. Everyone in the school thought Brock was going to ask Janice the next day. When Sarah arrived at home she cried into her pillow. She blew her chance with Brock and she knew it. When janice came home she seemed as happy as a clam. She went into Sarah and her room and looked at Sarah and said, “I guess it’s too bad. You’ll always have next year!”
Sara depressingly replied with
“There is no next year for me Janice,”
“Haha. Oops!”
Sarah was mad. Sarah was really mad. Janice took Brock from her and did not seem fazed at all. Sarah didn’t think that anyone could be so harsh as to not care at all. The least she could have done was apologize. Sarah was very upset and this time at night she cried into her pillow. “Geez. Could you shut up? Janice remarked. “I’m sorry,” Sarah mumbled.
Sarah woke up the next morning to the door bell. Janice jumped out of bed and ran downstairs. Sarah followed her down the steps a few seconds later. Janice opened the door and on their porch stood Brock. He looked excited but nervous at the same time. He had a large sign in his hands that was colored red and yellow. The sign read, “Of all the fish in the sea, Will you go to Homecoming with

    A Family Story Analysis

A certain importance exists within family stories, which are passed down through generations to represent happiness, pain, loss, and laughter, however, they can also be told just for fun. Certain stories can even be attached to a person for his or her whole life. Not only do family stories shape the values that are held within the family, they allow for more communication to be made between younger and older generations. An interesting fact about family stories is that they are almost never completely true, members of the family, or whoever is telling the story, always has the choice of “spicing” up their role in the story. For example, some people always want to be the “hero” of the story so they will add as much drama to their role as possible,…
