He rolled out of bed and dragged himself out of the bedroom and proceeded to the bathroom. The normal routine for him, brush your teeth in the old sink, take a shower in the porcelain tub, eat breakfast at the rectangular table, and getting everything ready for school. The rest of his brothers slowly waking up while he zips up his coat and gets ready to leave the undersized, overpriced apartment in the grimy, unsettling city called Jersey City. He looks at the fraying calendar from school that hung up on the rustiest nail ever known to man. December 20th, 1990. In big bold italic letters spelled WINTER BREAK. It spanned across the following days. Under the words WINTER BREAK in red pen wrote, “Help out at store” which also spanned out across the following days. It's snowing out so there must be people who need hats. As they wait outside, the bustling streets are no longer covered in light, fresh snow. Instead, the ground is packed to the ground and the gutters are filled with disgusting, brown slush caked in the sewage grate. As their dad locks the store and pulls down the old, steel, security fence, a must-have in crime ridden Chinatown where shop robberies are common. The 3 brothers stare up at the world trade center, which is barely visible in the grey, smog filled air. As they walk they continue to stare at the mountainous grey buildings and gleamed over as the 2 towers slice through the sky and soars over the buildings. The smell of smoke, car fumes, and chinese food combine for a stomach turning feeling. Chinatown was known to be one of the most dirty known places to man whether you're standing outside or sitting inside a restaurant, everyone knew the air stunk and there's nothing to be happy about walking through chinatown on a cold winter day. As they enter into to the distribution center, a makeshift warehouse filled with palettes of good they get another whiff of cigarette ash and motor oil. Yuck. One of the brothers gagged. The stench was so bad that even a fly wouldn’t dare come in. They trot through the aisle and heave the storage container of hats
