Who I Am Whether they are good or bad, we all have influences in our lives. Those who influence us the most, are the ones we see on a daily basis. In my life, I have 3 main examples; my mom, my dad, and my brother. Every single one of them have played a huge role in shaping me into who I am today. I carried their traits with me for a long time, copying their actions, decisions and sentences. That was until I became me. I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada with the mountains as my next door neighbor. My dad is by far the most hardworking man that I know. Much like Sandra Cisneros, I come from an immigrant family, with my dad being from Mexico and my mom from Nicaragua. Both my parents came to this country for an opportunity, just like everyone else with the American dream in sight. My dad has always worked in jobs that require hard, manual labor. His hands, thick and covered in cuts and calluses, never fail to bring bread to the table though. Although my parents didn’t obtain the best education,they never overlooked it, especially not my father. Even if he’s tired and worn out, he helps me every night with my math homework. He sits and listens to me play the piano, and sometimes he even helps me himself. “The reason I work so hard is so that you and Donovan can have a good education,” he says. Although we are six years apart, I couldn't feel closer to anyone else on this planet. My brother is my role model. He is an example of dedication and perseverance. Like any little sister, you always look up to your older sibling. His liking in books, movies and music kind of transfered to me. Anything that he did, I tried to do.
