It is a beautiful Friday morning in Los Angeles, California. The birds are chirping, the sky is blue, and I am clicking snoozing on my twenty-third alarm clock that is ringing. I am living alone in a studio apartment that is in a run-down building found in a decent neighborhood. My mother complains to me how bad the neighborhood is and how idiotic I am for not living with her after I graduated from California State University-Fullerton (C.S.U.F.). I would dismiss her complaints because I worked hard to save up the paychecks I made from working as a tutor when I attended C.S.U.F. After thirty minutes of constantly clicking snooze, I jolted out of my sleep realizing that I had only ten minutes to get ready, eat breakfast, and leave to make it …show more content…
I desperately needed to get my fix of coffee so I would feel alive. After I got my breakfast, I walked to another bus stop so I can go to the local Kaiser Permanente that I volunteered at. My purpose of volunteering was so I can receive further exposure to the career of a Cardiac Rehabilitation Therapist. The bus arrived twenty minutes late and I dreadfully got on the bus that was packed with people. I forcefully made my way past individuals, apologizing for barely touching them. I found a seat next to an older man who was staring off into the street. Eventually, I arrived at the hospital half an hour late. Feeling guilty, I hustled to get inside and start volunteering. When I finally check in, I conversed with the patients that were waiting to get rehabbed. Some of them would not converse with me much, but I still talked to them about my day and complimented their appearance. Occasionally the therapist asked me to wheel the patients in and I watched and took mental notes on what they did. Once all the patients were seen, the therapist I shadowed dismissed me because it was 5 p.m. I was astonished each time at how quickly time passed and checked my phone to realize I had indeed spent five hours there. When I checked my phone, I realized I had three missed calls from my mother and five text messages that were from my mother and two of my friends, Rosie and Ciara. I …show more content…
Eventually, I got off at my stop and walked to my apartment. I tried not to make eye contact with individuals because my neighborhood got sketchy after dark. Finally, I arrived at my apartment and ran to the kitchen and ate the salad that I bought from Trader Joes yesterday. I sat down on my couch devouring my salad when I received a phone call from my Ciara saying she was here. I promptly told her that she needed to come upstairs because I was eating. She sighed and told me okay. A couple of minutes later I heard a knock on the door. I opened the door and let her in. She told me to get ready and make sure to get my I.D. I obeyed her command and got ready in ten minutes. She was amazed at the 360-degree transformation that occurred in my appearance and we picked up Rosie. They chose to go to a nearby bar that had a karaoke machine. We ended up having an amazing time at the bar. At the end of the night, I slept at Rosie's apartment because it had gotten too

How do life experiences shape our values? A way life experiences shape our values is when we run away from a problem and later learn something, good or bad, from it. In Tom Sawyer, Tom runs away because he thinks nobody loves him and later learns they do but in their own way. In “Abuela Invents the Zero”, Constancia runs from her grandmother and the fact she is related to her, later she learns she should care about her. An example from my life is when I did something that made my mother scared and I ran inside because I was afraid of getting yelled at, later I knew not to do something like that.…

The moment I stepped out of the subway of 42nd Street in Manhattan, I was overwhelmed with a sense of wonder. The kind that let you know everything that there is to see on Broadway, at the same time, reminding you that you have neither the time nor the resources for such adventure. I stood still for a moment, admiring the extraordinary, bright neon signs. I took a deep breath and pulled out my phone in search of the famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York. As the location appeared on my phone, I started walking toward it.…
