We all read it at the same time and as we turned around to look at the shuttle we took to get here, it turned on and started to launch. We all took off running to it but it was too late, there was no way for us to get on it. We were stuck on Mars. I ran back up to the hill because we never got to check what was over it. As I reached the top and looked over it, I saw nothing. There was something there before but it was all in ruins. It resembled the village that was in our dreams, but looked like something had came through and destroyed it. I was angry and confused, so was Jim and as well John. There happened to be one building that was far off in the distance that we all agreed to go to, because we had nowhere else to go. We thought there might be things there we could use to get home. It felt like it took forever just to walk to the building. Once we finally got there we opened a door and there was a small person. It didn 't look like a person but more like an alien, but it wasn 't like any alien I have ever seen on TV or in a movie. Whatever it was was shorter than all of us, so probably about 5 foot tall. The thing didn 't see us at first but after Jim said something to me then it noticed us. It turned around and was very afraid, it muttered “please don 't hurt me, I didn 't do

I also saw what appeared to be a lake far off in the distance. I started to walk towards the lake and when I arrived, I saw that on the other side of the lake there was a large cabin that was surrounded by willow trees. As soon as I entered the cabin, I saw that it appeared to be quite old and rundown there were cobwebs and dirt everywhere and I immediately made it a plan to fix up this old cabin and make it my own little…

In 1986, the world experienced a tragedy that had lasting effects on many people, myself included. While at the young age of nine years old at the time, I can still remember that day as though it was yesterday. That day, schools had closed in my county due to snow. I was home, flipping through the television when I came across a news broadcast about the impending launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger. I do not remember if I had knowledge of the space program before that day, but something that day piqued my interest.…

It’s amazing how the same stars we look at today are the same ones, more or less, that all humanity has gazed upon. Plato, Queen Mary, Martin Luther King—the list is endless but these great historical figures have all seen the balls of light and gas that shine in the sky tonight. That’s all they are, floating matter in a vast, unknown space we call “outer space” simply because it resides outside the front door. Space. It envelopes us like an old, soft blanket with moth bites here and stains there.…

Seeing nothing, I searched for the snake on both sides of the tall, scorched golden grass and rocks for approximately thirty seconds until I realized my brother was insane—there was nothing near us. We all decided it would be best just to forget about so we continued up the hill. When we got to the top of the mountain, there was a bench made of various sized slate grey, oval rocks; it was ancient and slowly deteriorating but surprisingly stable. It looked like the Native Americans put it together before Columbus took all their land in 1492. As I assembled myself onto the bench, I admired the opening of the trees that was roughly ten feet wide; I was seeing the world at just the right…

It was about a twenty-four foot tall waterfall that had a shining crystal clear stream of water falling from the middle of a cliff. I saw a hole about the size of me in the side of the waterfall that was pitch black, so I walked into it and told the others to follow. We slept in the black hole, drank water from the waterfall, ate leaves and bark, and built fires to keep us warm. After laughing, talking, and storytelling we fell…
