The crack of the rifles shooting into the air could only send me back. The volley of shots making me remember that day. I could only think if I made the right call that night. It was supposed to be a quick snatch and grab, but it all went wrong from the moment we left. I went up to give my respect to the men that were killed under my command. I could only see Kody’s face, the hazel eyes that showed no one was left behind them. Kody has been my right-hand since day one of Basic Training. He was a big soldier, six foot three, two hundred forty pounds, no one messed with him. I however wasn’t the biggest. I only stood to be five foot ten, one hundred eighty pounds. I was the squad leader, Kody became my right-hand after a long day from basic …show more content…
Then a whip went through the air, Chris got shot in the shoulder. “Sean get your ass up to Chris and keep your damn head down.” I said. Sean went up to Chris and started to work. Knowing now that there was sniper fire I told them to keep there heads down and only fire if they have a clear sight on the sniper. Kody and I were pinned behind the rocks and couldn’t get a shot. Brad yelled “I found a spot and could pick him off.” Brad giving them some fire support I radioed it in that we were in a firefight and need immediate EVAC. I yelled at Sean, “How is Chris?” Sean yelled to back me, “Great, I got the bleeding to stop!” Just then another round from the rebel sniper hit Chris in the head. “Fuck! Chris is KIA.” Sean said to me. Brad yelled “I’m out I need another fucking mag or we are all dead.” Kody threw him a mag. I thought to myself, I lost another …show more content…
“Sean and Brad you two go left and Kody and I will take the farmer and go right we will meet 400 yards south of here.” I said. Kody grabbed the farmer and I gave covering fire as we retreated quickly. Brad and Sean were running turning around to fire and then to keep running. Sean looked to Brad, “What happened to Ethan?” Brad turned and shot behind them. “I don’t know, maybe the sniper shot him.” Brad said. Sean looked over his shoulder and could see a rifle aimed at Brad, the rifle shot and Sean jumped and pushed Brad. Sean took the bullet for Brad. Brad looked at Sean and said “I shot him because James shouldn’t be the squad leader. Ethan’s death will be on him like all these will too.” Sean looked into Brad’s eyes smiled with the blood spurting from his mouth said “Fuck you Brad.” and his body went limp in Brad’s hands. Brad turned from Sean and sprinted to the point that James said to

Comparison and Contrast Essay The stories “Cranes” and “The Sniper” show us the effects of war. The themes of “Cranes” and “The Sniper” are similar due to the war tearing people apart, however, they are different because in “Cranes” the compassion prevails, while in “The Sniper” survival wins over compassion. Both stories themes show us how war reduces human life to nothing and how it tears apart families and friends but that family and friends come first. We see this in “Cranes” when Songsam lets Tokchae escape into the woods.…

SNC gave a thorough 5 paragraph order that included a Direction of attack of the Squad on the objective, gave specific tasks that outlined specific fire team assignments, and Coordinating Instructions that included maneuvers for both movement to objective and upon contact. SNC was not confident as he delivered his 5 paragraph order with little or no eye contact as he was reading from his notes and maintained a monotone voice that was hard to hear. SNC had to be prompted to establish security in the Assembly Area. SNC froze upon enemy sniper contact and was unable to disseminate orders to his fire team to gain fire superiority as he was confused on the direction of enemy contact. SNC was prompted for forward movement, but failed to gain a positive…

As I stared across the bullet-torn battlefield I wondered how I ended up here; hiding behind a crumbling wall, clutching my gun as though it were a lifeline. How the young kid I'd once been now bore a dirty, camouflage patterned uniform. There I was, contemplating my life in the middle of a battle. I shouldn't have been surprised when a hand suddenly shot out in front of my face and smacked me upside the head. It was so unexpected that I nearly stumbled out from behind the rubble and right into the bullet whizzing by.…

Another British soldier had walked out and scolded the young boy for disrespecting a British soldier. The book takes the form of an autobiography with Chris telling his story from growing up to retiring from the military, but throughout the book, through the use of intermittent dialogues by his wife Taya, Chris’ conflicting thoughts during his enlistment, and the emotions that the reader is meant to feel, he clearly sends the message of how military service affected his family but more specifically how it affect all military families. During the book, Chris Kyle’s wife Taya jumps in with her personal thoughts about many different things but more often than…
