Being the oldest person on a team with girls who haven’t played before this year gave me a sense of leadership. I was, not trying to brag, the best player on the team. Lacrosse is a hard sport to play, and dangerous too. I got more than half of the points on the scoreboard. I played the midey position which is were you play offense and defense and you have to run the field a lot. The other team wasn’t half bad for their age. I could tell the little girls were starting to panic with only a minute, time left. They’ve never had to play with this much pressure before. It was the end of the second half, too. The girl on the other team and I were standing face-to-face. The referee walked over with the ball and placed it between out two sticks. She blew the whistle and the ball flew in the air. We won the face off and I got the ball; I ran down the field with fifteen seconds left. The seconds were going away like cookies at Grandma’s house. Two defenders from the other team came at me like seagulls going for that last piece of sandwich that the little boy left at the beach. The two defenders were good, but not good enough. I could’ve easily shot the ball past the goalie and into the net, but instead I passed to one of the little girls on my team, Tessa. There were only three seconds left.
