Narrative Essay On Thanksgiving Day

It was Thanksgiving Day around two o’clock in the afternoon. The house was starting to smell wonderful because my mom was making vegetarian Sheppard’s pie. And they house still smelled slightly like pumpkin pie that was made earlier in the day. Our small apartment was finally clean so that family could come over for dinner. The front door was opened and the fall air was sweeping through the house, cooling off the hot air from the oven. When someone knocked on the front door I answered it. My grandma does not like Deanna, and Shannon has caused my grandma trouble, so she did not want to sit by them and wanted to be next to my mom. When everyone was seated, my mom served dinner which smelled wonderful and tasted even better, but my mom didn’t eat because she was not feeling due. That same week she had the flu and she started getting a migraine the morning of thanksgiving, because she was stressed about Shannon, and about making sure that thanksgiving dinner was perfect. We ate in almost complete silence since no one wanted to talk. Thankfully, my grandma broke the silence and talked about a doctor’s appointment. My family was skilled at pretending things are okay, when things had become tense. But there was a strain between all of us since my sister got back from New York for her court date. It was evident, because no was wanting to make eye contact with Shannon. And Shannon and Deanna were whispering about something.
