Narrative Essay On Thanksgiving Day For Me

Since I was a little kid, I had always had a love for cooking and baking. I would beg my parents for the large toy kitchen sets with the fake plastic food. I would spend all day “preparing” the food and I would “feed” my parents; asking them if the food I made them was tasty. I even had a tea set that my mom had bought me; I adored it, it was a white set that had little flower details on the pot and cups. When I first got the set I would stop all of my family members who passed by me for some “tea” but I soon stopped asking as I would usually get a “No, thank you” from my dad and sister; however, my mom wouldn’t decline me so she became my go-to person for when I wanted to drink tea with someone. Looking back on it, I realize how much of a distraction I was to her, I would offer her the imaginary tea and plastic food at any time even if she was working, thankfully she loved humoring me and always played along. …show more content…
For five year old me, that was a super big deal, it was like Christmas for me. I remember waking my parents up really early that day so that I could make the turkey. My dad helped me with it mostly as my mom was recording the entire thing. My dad let me feel like I was really doing all of the work, he let me hold the handle of the knife while his hand was over mine. I do remember being able to stuff the turkey which was exciting for me since I felt like I was in charge of the meal. Then once I decided that the turkey was ready I helped my dad put it in the oven. Later in the evening I was able to make a cherry pie on my own too, which was an accomplishment since usually our pie came from Marie Callender's, so I felt quite accomplished that

Have you ever noticed how in the stores you will see a plethora of Halloween costumes, decorations and the like but immediately following Halloween, you see Christmas themed decorations all over and very little to commemorate Thanksgiving? The most I've seen have had leaves and maybe a cornucopia and really only enough scattered throughout the store to fill a half to one whole aisle. It seems that our national holiday is only truly named and observed within "leaked" black friday ads, alerting you to when the advertised deals start. This never really bothered me in the past. As a little girl Thanksgiving was all about the Macy's Parade, the dog show, food, and the countdown until santa claus and presents galore.…

This year Thanksgiving will be at my house. I would prefer it to be somewhere else because my mom wants me to clean my room, but I guess it is ok that we are having it. My mom is making all the food and some people may bring some dessert. I don’t always help her cook, but I might this year. If my mom doesn’t have time to do something that is when I usually help make the deviled eggs and hamburger…

Last November, a week before Thanksgiving, I was listening to the morning radio talk show The Woody Show and the hosts were talking about how excited they were for the Thanksgiving feast. They all went around and shared what was their perfect meal for that day. It ranged from fried turkey, to stuffing, cornbread, green bean casserole, and towards the end the hosts argued about cranberry sauce. However, they all agreed that pumpkin pie was essential to the perfect meal. I found it very interesting that while they argued about the way the meal was executed, they all agreed on the basic components to the meal-I didn’t.…

Thanksgiving dinner in my family is a big deal all our family and friends gather around to celebrate. There is always plenty of food, drinks, music and laughter. My family is loud, crazy and not afraid to voice their opinions so there is always drama at every dinner or family event. I chose to write on this because I never payed attention to detail or interactions at these dinners like why the women cook? Or why it is important that we are all together.…

The anticipation for Thanksgiving break is over the top. The thought of home cooked meals, family, and no professors talking a student 's ear off for a week are heavenly. Of course all the classic thanksgiving things happen but there are also psychological things that go on. (Darn that psychology sneaking its way into everything, it obviously never goes on break.) Although psychology is used every minute of every day i 'm only going to talk about 5 concepts, persuasion, cognition, emotion, personality, and the self.…

Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…
