There is a day during my freshman year that I will never forget, it is the day I got my first nickname. I was at one of my tennis practices and all the girls were practicing together. When it was my turn to hit the ball, I hit it out. My coach, Ms. Tobar, began to fuss at me for it. One of the seniors, Jessica Worley, said to her “don’t fuss at her Ms. Tobar, she’s just a little turtle.” I still don’t know why she chose to call me a “little turtle”. I have fallen in love with the game and plan to keep playing as long as I am able. I may not be on the collegiate level but my passion for the sport is what keeps me going. Even though a lot of this story was about tennis and all my accomplishments in it, none of it would have happened if I hadn’t have been named “Little Turtle”. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to meet those five seniors and am blessed to say I am now in their shoes. It is a bittersweet feeling looking back to my freshman year and realizing my time in high school is now coming to an end. I pray that I too will get the opportunity to influence someone’s life, just as those girls did
