Scary summer camp
The summer of 2015 was the scariest summer I ever had. School was out so I decided to embark on a much anticipated camping trip with my friends Melvin, Tom, Danny, Tasha, and Brenda .We stayed up for hours planning, preparing. July 20th finally arrived we jumped in my car and drove the five miles to River rock mountain. On arrival we speedily got out of the car in awe. The sweet music of the birds bombarded us everywhere we turned. We felt the soft fresh breeze on our faces, we heard the rumbling of the nearby river, and knew we had chosen the right place to camp. We turned to each other with beaming smiles. We were ready for this adventurous weekend. We swiftly put up our tents for dusk was slowing approaching One for the

Now!” I shouted we rushed into our tents and started grabbing our stuff, when we heard a small feeble voice calling out, “hello, hello, don’t’ be afraid I’m just trying to warn you about the bridge it’s fragile and could break at any time. I live on the other side of the river and saw your small contingent approaching so I decided to warn all of you of the danger please, don’t be scared”. Brenda slowly crept out of the tent followed by Tasha and I in tow. We realized the guys were already outside conversing with the frail looking man. Looking closely at him I realized he was not so scary after all. We thanked the kind man for his act of kindness, but decided to cut our camping trip short and return to the safety of our homes. It was just too much for us, we couldn’t stay one more night because of the fright we had. Our amazingly planned weekend of camping fun, turned out to be the scariest summer weekend camping for all of us.

One look at this image and I decided to use it. I wrote a story about the bridge. But I’ll try to be a bit more descriptive.

This looks like a scene straight out of a horror movie. The bridge looks like it’s ready to crumble. This photo was taken in the wee hours of the morning, in a forest with very tall trees looming. The bridge was built very long ago, and it was a means of getting across from one side of the river to the next, but has been abandoned for quite some time. Anyone who came across this bridge would be scared,

The Ethical Dilemma If put in a sticky situation, how far would a person go to defend the core principals of their profession, if it meant blurry the line with reality? In 1973, a massive manhunt in New York’s Adirondack Mountains came to an end with the police arresting criminal Robert Garrow. After committing a slew of atrocities, this barbaric man had been brought to justice, with the help of his attorney, Frank Armani, who had been called into the case. However, the conduct in which Mr. Armani acted, was immensely controversial then, and still heavily debated today.…

Nettie Wild’s intellectually provocative composition, titled Uninterrupted, is a stunning representation of the essentiality and effectivity of moving images. Projected as large-scale images, the spectacle utilizes the pillars and underside of Vancouver’s Cambie Street Bridge as its film screen to exemplify the major disconnect between our city and the river habitat below. Uninterrupted- comprised of vivid illustrations and breathtaking scores composed by Owen Belton- demonstrates the impact of human existence on the complex sockeye salmon endeavor . The twenty-five minute array (which displayed nightly Tuesday through Saturday at nine o’clock, from June 28th to September 24th) focuses on these moving images within the intimate outdoor setting as the primary visual stimulation of the installation. Though two dimensional by nature, the specificity and attention to details within the installation creates the illusion that the audience is beneath the surface of the water, viewing the installation from the river bed.…

Most teenagers would probably tell you that the beginning of their adulthood was marked by having to do laundry for the first time, or being able to drive alone, or perhaps no longer sitting at the children's table at family events. But for me, it happened this past summer, when I made the very difficult decision that I would not return to Coleman Country Day Camp. To those who were not fortunate enough to have grown up at summer camp, this might not seem like such a big decision to make. But Coleman was my outlet, my second home for ten consecutive summers and spending those two months anywhere else seemed inconceivable to me.…

The trip to a camping site in the middle of a Pennsylvania forest- a trip I would never forget- lead me to the discovery of myself and my transition into adulthood. This trip was through the summer camp I have attended for now eleven years; Liberty Lake Day Camp located in Columbus, New Jersey, is my second home. I grew up in this camp, and when I finally reached the age to become a L.I.T, a leader in training, I was eager to undergo the program with my friends I always attended camp with. This trip was a reward to all the hard work we do as L.I.Ts. Little did I know the annual L.I.T trip to the camping site would be life changing.…

    Grate Meaning

As I walked by the creek looking for something to create I was stopped by this grate seemingly built into the small hill running down to the creek. The grate didn’t look meaningful but it had a non-visual value, it was a rusted old grate with a concrete foundation and it disrupted the natural rhythm of the river, as some water flowed away from the river into the grate. As you can see most people at first glance would simply disregard the grate but I sat and watched it for a while and found a much deeper meaning behind this simple grate. This grate caught my eye because as Bennett talks about in her writing on assemblage this grate felt like it had the power in my eyes, even though it wasn’t a living thing.…
