My skis pointed straight down the edge and all my mass shifts forward and was off. Avoiding the moguls I swiftly weaved in and out making a powder wave that trailed behind me. When they asked that questions I immediately said “yes” but I knew I didn’t know how to and its probably not a good idea. A few minutes later I called my dad and he said maybe next time. If I think back and if I did go that day what would of happened it probably wouldn't be very fun for them if I was behind the whole time and they would wait for me. A few week later we went to a local ski hill, Ski Ward to get me my first lessons. Dad and I pull up to Ski Ward parking lot and I look up at this hill this only 220’ vertical hill it's not even a mountain and I think it is huge as I look up I'm very intimidated. Going into the building little kids about 6-10 year olds are running around. I didn't know how to react when I saw all these smaller kids flying by me. As went rented the ski equipment I sat down and tried to get these heavy, weird looking boots on my feet I pushed and pushed and eventually my dad helped me slip them on my feet. I try to walk in them to the instructor I keep falling in the snow and all the little kids look and laugh and it's really is embarrassing. During the lesson I meet the instructor and he happen to go to Algonquin and teach lessons for extra money. After the lesson I have learned the basic pizza-french

Pink-tinted goggles protect my eyes from the sun’s blinding rays that reflect off the snow. A black gaiter shields my neck and face from the biting wind as I cruise past miles of shimmering white snow and lush evergreen trees. Cross-country skiing is something different and out of my comfort zone. While I treasure the select days I can go skiing in the winter, I can only go down greens and a few blues without feeling terrified and finding myself inching down the side of the hill at a snail’s pace. Even going down the greens, beginner trails that some may find boring, I feel a sense of adventure and exhilaration as I ski alongside the younger, yet more experienced children.…

The added elevation diminishes the number of trees providing protection from the bitter wind that starts hitting us like pins and needles. I pull my bandanna up and fit my goggles to the shape of my helmet, in an attempt to block out the frigid breeze.…
