However when It first came to my knowledge that I had this class I did not believe this. I did not get out at of this class as much as I could of, however I did learn a lot. My experience as a segue student taught me writing, college, and even real world skills.
Throughout my life my struggle spot in school has been writing. Whenever I know that I need to write something I panic. However after English 099 I am a more confident writer. The advice my professor gave me has been very beneficial. She taught me grammar, organization of a paper, and how to write a thesis statement. However the best advice she gave me was to be confident in my writing. My professor would

Coming into college from high school is a very big change. In college you have to grow up or else you will get drifted into the wind. Skipping class is very tempting because you will not get immediate punishment if you do so like in high school. As the semester started I skipped segue class a lot. To me it was an irrelevant class, and my teacher did not say anything to me when I did. However after the first big assignment I came to the realization that my friends that attended segue regularly received higher grades on it then I did. After that I learned my lesson. Also my professor lectured us about class attendance one day that she was feeling a bit frustrated. She said to us "Why are you all paying for a class you do not even come to, in that case you might as well just not waste your time in coming to college." With those few words I realized that the only way I was going to be successful in college is if I am in class. However being in class does not just mean being physically there, you also need to

As a student teacher, I would recommend students like me to get help with writing problems early. I still get help when it comes down to writing an essay. Writing can be a struggle for a lot of people, including me. High school showed me that I clearly struggle with specific parts of creating a paper, or a short story. Like most people in high school I was given complements on my work, and some specific parts of my paper to work on by my high school instructors. I always had a great topic, or I thought my story was great. There is a similar problem I had then, and still have now.…

My writing process is currently just typing whatever comes to mind at the moment and then going back to read over it. I’ve only written a personal narrative essay, I haven’t made a decent writing process yet. I also let a few of my friends read my paper and help me make corrections on Google Docs. On an estimate, I probably spent around 1-2 hours daily, typing and revising my paper in my dorm. Like I stated before, I currently just write whatever comes to mind and then revise it later.…

Many students, including myself, tend to feel anxious at the beginning of the school year. There are new teachers to worry about, whether or not you’ll know people in class, and if you’ll truly understand the material being taught. The list of worries adds up at the beginning of the school year, but they always seem to double with dual enrollment students. The expectations walking into any English class are particularly low, however walking into 1302 one might expect the class to be one from their nightmares. One major flaw with the students today is that they don’t have enough confidence in what they write or the work that they do.…
