Personal Narrative: How I Live My Life

Improved Essays
I try to live my life by a rule. That rule is Never do tomorrow what you can do today. Life is a funny thing in most cases, you live it generally never thinking that it could possibly end. You make plans far off in the future, and some of us even dream of never dying and living forever. I am guilty like everyone on earth by one time or another, just like everyone else fancying myself invincible and I have more reasons than most not to be that way. One of the things that I have always been asked throughout my life is about the scar that I have right underneath my right eye. It is December 18 2004 it is only 13 days away from my 6th birthday, it had snowed the night before and we didn’t have school the next day so I did what any five …show more content…
This happened while I was at work and to set it up the filter machine we have has always acted up and never really worked properly but it would overheat and the only way to fix this was to take the top plate off of the motor box and let it cool. But a month before the incident I had to take out the sheet metal screws that held the lid to the box but that process destroyed the screw holes for the lid so it could not be resecured. So one month later I am filtering the fryers its 7:45, I can be more specific on this incident because I had to right a workplace incident report on it. I had just finished the third and last fryer and was headed back to the pit which is basically a pit with a drain that we clean all the heavy equipment in. Now I am leaning on the lid to push the filter machine forward, and the lid slipped and as it slipped I fell forward into the machine and my arm was sliced wide open in two places one by my elbow by the edge of the box and then my lower arm was burned by the motor and my wrist was slit by the other edge of the filter box. This caused me to start bleeding profusely and one of the managers, Heather Birdsong came over to hurt because if I remember correctly when I had done this the first thing was curse as loudly and as repeatedly as I could “SHIT”. My manager proceeded to get the medical kit and wrap my arm in gauze and then she immediately sent me home so my mother could decide whether or not I needed to go to hospital. This is the third time than I faced death in my opinion and lived because any deeper and I could have severed an artery or if I had fell forward slightly further I could have potentially fell into the filter machines vat of 350 degree oil and basically fried my face

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…
