Narrative Essay On My Sister By Mara Corpen

The other day, I happened to come across a quote from Sara Corpening, questioning, “How do people make it through life without a sister?” As I began to think about it, I realized that I’ve always had a sister. My sister, Tara, was nine years old the day I was born. Therefore, she has always been there. I have yet to live a day without her in my life and hopefully, I never have to experience that. Typically, siblings grow up hating each other and always arguing. That was not the case for my sister and I. With us being nine years apart, we hardly argued. However, when she left for college, we weren’t as close anymore. As a ten-year-old, I slowly began to lose hope on our sisterhood. If someone was to ask any of our friends or family about Tara …show more content…
She gave birth to my nephew, Harrison, about a year and a half ago. I love him more than anything. When I get to see him, he immediately brightens my day. Shortly after his first birthday, Tara got a little surprise. On Mother’s Day, her boyfriend at the time, proposed to her; of course, she said yes. I have never been happier for her. Tara and her fiance, Jeremy, decided on a destination wedding. Therefore, they agreed on having only one person by their side. Jeremy immediately chose his best friend that lives in California. I was really hoping that I would have the honor of being Tara’s Maid of Honor. However, I wasn’t sure because I thought she would choose her best friend as well. Tara and I aren’t as close as we used to be; she’s been busy with motherhood and me with high school. Plus, the Maid of Honor is supposed to plan the Bachelorette Party and that’s hard to do being underage. Despite everything I worried about, Tara asked me to be her Maid of Honor, a couple months ago. I was immensely surprised, but even more thrilled. I was delighted to accept her proposal to have the honor of standing next to her on her big

Two Sisters’ Perspectives “Why I live at the P.O.” by Eudora Welty is written in first person. The narrator, called Sister in the story, seems to use this work to express her feelings about the unjust treatment she has endured from her family. She also wants to justify her quick decision to move away from home. She hopes that her readers will see the mistreatment she has endured and applaud her for having the courage to separate herself from her family. If the story was told from Stella- Rondo’s point of view, she, just as Sister, most likely would try to justify her actions and get the readers to take her side.…

At the time, I didn’t know that I was going to have more sisters; now I have two sisters (other than Kelsey) Ryan and Nora. Once Kelsey was born, my mom knew that I would be a great big sister (based on the way I treated Kelsey in the hospital). I never knew my life would have changed.…

Transgender Being transgender is when a person’s gender identity does not conform with their biological sex. Speculating on how people are identifying as a transgender individual is a difficult and very controversial topic to discuss due to the fact that nobody knows what is morally correct. One author, Ruth Padawer, has brought the topic to light, presenting us with examples from one of the most prestigious women’s colleges in the United States. In her 2014 piece, “Sisterhood is Complicated”, she ponders on the idea of if people who identify as transgender should be permitted to attend an all women’s college. In her piece, she states that, “Some two dozen other matriculating students at Wellesley don’t identify as women.…

On December 25, 2001, a bundle of holiday joy destroyed the one thing I truly cared about in my lovely, lively, little life. My older sister and I always had a strong bond. Even though Alexa was sixteen years older than me and adopted, I felt like she was more of a sister to me than the younger one would ever be.…

Concrete Experience Every year in August, my family organizes picnics for everyone to meet and reminisce about the good times. I saw this picnic as a way for us to interconnect once again and appreciate our lives together. What I loved most was how my sister and I were often allowed to make water balloons and throw them at my uncles when they were distracted. As we grew older, the water balloon fights disseminated and our conversations grew richer. I knew from a very early age that my sister trusted me more than anyone and the bond we shared made us both feel secure about one another.…

Being the only girl and first born I was spoiled but not so much that it ruined me. But I was never satisfied with being the only girl, because I never got the chance at the whole “sisterly bond” thing and I thought thats was how to be a great sister. I wasn’t happy with God’s decision, and there used to be times I would sit on my grandmother 's lap and ask “Why didn’t God give me a sister?” , My grandmother would tell me “God did give you sister’s…

People who have grown up with siblings might laugh at the idea that I consider being an only child an essential part of my identity. But just as a relationship with a brother or sister can be deeply formative, so can the absence of these relationships. For me, this absence has been a powerful stimulus to my imagination and my growth as a person. When people discover I am an only child, they often react with some sympathy, as if growing up alone meant growing up lonely. It's certainly true that I spent a lot of time alone; even though I had close friends in elementary school, I hung out with them mostly on weekends.…

Many children think their siblings only exist to torment them and take their toys: this is only half of the story and not the way I wish my siblings to remember me when I leave for college. When welcomed into the family, my sister gave me a playmate. When welcomed nearly three years later, my brother gave me someone to protect. Despite the seeming insignificance, being the oldest sibling played a key part in my development; as a result, I do not take my role as their big sister lightly. While my role as big sister does not always include making my siblings happy, the desire to bring them joy never ceases.…
