Thanksgiving 2014, my family from both sides gathered around the dining table at my nonnas house. Rachel my eldest sister stands up and slightly and safely taps her fork against the fine crystal glass. We all look up standing around the table built for 20. Huff her husband holds rachel 's hands as my niece and nephew both of her of 5 years had huge grins upon their small faces. ¨My family, i 'm so glad we could be together on this joyous holiday-¨ she continues with a tear. ¨ i would like to announce that-¨ her smile indicated something, you could feel the suspense in the situation, like a movie paused in time. It felt like ages my brain has to guess what she could possible say next. ¨ We 're pregnant!”she exclaimed as she threw her hands …show more content…
They said they wanted the gender to be a surprise for i=sakes and purposes. It was about late may and we were waiting for summer, and after that just one more month. The due date we figured out was july 30th. Alongs with both my uncles and my poppy. As may turned to june she became more visible and round. After our last day of school i took no time in spending nights and days at a time over there to help around the house, take care of the twins and get the house packed for the move. And yes they 're moving out by october. From a small two bed one bath apartment to a three bed two bath house. Everyday i would wake up early with the kids and get them dressed and fed and out the door to go play in the summer heat. Single mothers I ran on less than five hours of sleep everyday and less than that on the weekends. Sweeping and mopping the kit h and Livingroom everyday, washing clothes picking up after the twins and my very pregnant sister. But to me, it was all worth …show more content…
I couldn 't understand if i was just hallucinating from lack of food or i had actually went mentally insane . As i pondered and waited, the hours flew by, going in and out of contractions some stronger some less painful. It was now almost eleven, and i was thinking the women might have been right, tomorrow was definitely going to be the birth date, check. Eleven flew by fast as she was ready, she tried going to the bathroom but no use she couldn 't get up. My sister paula and my dad left the room to get everyone pizza about an hour ago, while i stayed out with my mom huff and rachel and my Nonna. Watching the nurse work was fascinating, being 15 she was now one of my role models, soon what made me fall in love with the job. Now meeting with twelve o 'clock, the baby was almost here. As she took deep breaths slowly like my Nonna commanded. Finally after almost twelve hours it was time. My excitement was through the roof, i was ecstatic. As the doctor pulled out the baby she exclaimed ¨Its a boy.¨ We all cheered with joy as paula came rushing through the door. ¨Natan.¨ rachel announced ¨He shall be called Natan, Natan Simcha Coon¨ she said joyously tears rushed down her face. Remembering back to what the old lady had muttered, that was Natans middle name. Not knowing or ever finding out in that case who or what the old lady was or how she knew my unborn nephews name, we

The anticipation for Thanksgiving break is over the top. The thought of home cooked meals, family, and no professors talking a student 's ear off for a week are heavenly. Of course all the classic thanksgiving things happen but there are also psychological things that go on. (Darn that psychology sneaking its way into everything, it obviously never goes on break.) Although psychology is used every minute of every day i 'm only going to talk about 5 concepts, persuasion, cognition, emotion, personality, and the self. So sit back and get ready to eat some turkey.…

It felt like a normal day. it was a normal day as I walked into class in 7th grade. Some people say that you feel when you are about to get your life changed forever but I couldn't sense it. The girl I was partnered up with, named Skylar, sat with our tot and glared at me. To this day I don't know what I did to hurt her but she sure knew what she did to me as she constantly bullied me and made me think suicide was the only option. I sat down and Skylar hit me under the desk so hard my leg jerked up and hit the table. I was pain but I wasn't about to show her that she enjoyed it too much.…

All of them are sons, and they are very active. Over a season ago, some White people settled down the river from our village. This morning, we heard many of the guns that these settlers carry go off over and over. It made the children cry and scared us all. Our chief gathered 90 warriors and some of us women to cook for the men. We set off in many canoes for the two hour trip to the settlement of the White people.…

My family has never been big on the holidays- I almost always spend them at a friend’s home. This year, I went to my friend Alex’s home for Thanksgiving alongside my friend Jay. Alex and Jay are frankly some of the greatest friends I can ask for, and going in to thank them I knew they would take it light-heartedly and make a joke out of it. Before we sat down for dinner, the three of us were sitting in her living room ranting and cracking jokes. I was rehearsing the lines in my head, thinking of ways to pop the sentence to them. I finally settled on “Hey guys, thank you for always being there for me and listening to me complain, even though you don’t know what I’m saying half the time.” I knew the last line would make them laugh and go on a rampage…

I never really thought anything could truly scare me. I mean I am the kid who played with snakes and set ant hills on fire, what can make me scared? Well one day I decided to put my courage to the test. It was a couple of nights after thanksgiving, I remember because it was the last time we had gotten a week-long break before the one we took for Christmas. I just came to the thought maybe I will be the bravest one of them all. So I began to pack my book bag with everything that I felt necessary to survive one night in the woods, basically I got food, a blanket, and a lamp. I felt that was enough to get me through the night. So I waited until everybody was asleep to embark on my journey. As soon as I could assure myself that I was going through…

It all started that Thanksgiving of 2013. When my Mom, Brother, Sister, Dad, and I went to my nana and papa’s house at a little place called Murphey Court, at Linden Michigan. When my family and I got there, I saw my “Extended” family, My gg (Great Grandma), Conner, James, Aunt Sue, and my Uncle Steve. While my cousins and I were outside my nana was making the cake while my papa, dad, and mum were playing a game called dig dug. (dig dug was a very old game that was put into a console called a commodore 64)…

Thanksgiving at Marymount California University was one day I will never forget. The day was to celebrate the holiday as a school with staff and students. I arrived at the cafeteria and it looked like it got shut down. The tables were covered with orange and yellow tablecloth. The room was soon filled quickly. Many of us were hungry and decided this was an option since the cafeteria took a break and closed down as a whole. Some were very excited about the tradition. Being in middle I thought the tradition was more interesting to me then eating away in a fashion of hungry and starving animals. We were all introduced in the diverse community of our school and how each said Thank you. Drinks were provided. The drinks were water, pomegranate juice and pink lemonade.…

It's Thanksgiving evening. My family and relatives sit around our table, decorated with cartoon turkeys and fall leaves. A big, juicy turkey sits in the middle of the table with gravy and cranberry sauce by it’s side. We go around the table, stating what we are thankful for. “I am thankful for...” When I think about what I’m thankful for, the list could go on and on. It seems practically never ending! On my list of thankful topics, three things are right at the top, my family, my education, and our country. First off, my family plays a big part in my life and I love spending time with them. My mom helps our entire family every day. She always gets up early to drive my brother to the bus stop, and myself to school. After, she works very hard…

Thanksgiving morning, the time to wake up earlier than normal. To exercise the tradition that happens throughout the years. The turkey trot, a fun family event that all come to run. My morning journey will soon begin. Anxiety, thrill, and emotion elevate through my body. The thought of knowing what is about to come runs through my mind. Then it begins. The shotgun is fired and the rush of people start ahead. People sprint, people fall back. I accumulate into my pacing pack. An easy downgrade to begin the route. But from there on it only gets worse. One mile goes by so quickly, only two more to endure. Second mile, hills throughout and feels like it is never ending. Then straight ahead the worst of all, hospital hill. The steepest hill everybody…

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, I rather spontaneously---or perhaps, I’d like to think, by the work of the Holy Spirit---got on a night bus and went to church. I arrived at St. Mark’s Cathedral to a contemplative Eucharist in their beautiful chapel. It was soft and lovely and quiet.…

Thanksgiving dinner in my family is a big deal all our family and friends gather around to celebrate. There is always plenty of food, drinks, music and laughter. My family is loud, crazy and not afraid to voice their opinions so there is always drama at every dinner or family event. I chose to write on this because I never payed attention to detail or interactions at these dinners like why the women cook? Or why it is important that we are all together. I also chose to write on this because I want to know how culture and traditions are incorporated at our thanksgiving dinner. I never noticed any of this because I’m so used to it always being the same like a routine at each dinner.…
