Halfway through my sophomore year in high school I was struggling and not sure what direction I wanted to take myself in next year. I entered Middle College in my junior year of high school. By doing this I allowed myself to expand not only my academic horizons but I discovered new topics I never knew I would be interested in. Someone once said, "Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret." This essentially means that discipline will be difficult to manage but it’s a finer choice than regretting your decisions later on. School can be difficult, but the pain of the self-command and devotion will get you much further in your education than lackadaisical and deprecate. The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

My freshman year was one of my craziest school year. It came from fake hall passes, to skipping in the restroom, and acting all bad by getting referrals. I remember my ap secretary always used to call me “Diablo” just because i always got in trouble and she said i used to drive her crazy. I just never cared about the consequence of skipping so much, good thing I never got caught. Meeting new friends and new attitudes and a little more of responsibility and to be honest waking up so early every single morning was not that fun.…

College is a difficult time for everyone, especially your first year. Making the transition from simple high school classes to intense college level courses requires a lot of adjusting. This transition can be made either significantly more difficult or easy depending on the professors that are teaching the courses. My Junior year of high school was my challenging year, the reason to that is because we had to study for our Act also we had our grad MCAs to take. I must say it was really difficult knowing that we had those two big major tests in the same week. The amount of studying was ridiculous but in my head for a whole two months I was reminding myself that it will benefit me in the future that I need this to graduate. One part I didn 't have to worry was a portion of the MCA like the Algebra part. But the part that was extremely hard for me was geometry.…

When entering junior high, we were constantly reminded by teachers, parents, and school administrators how different it was from elementary school. It was supposed to be the start of a transition from childhood to young adulthood, and though I discounted many of these sentiments at the time, looking back it certainly was. For the first time we had to change before gym, no one really sure whether it was more socially acceptable to change in a bathroom stall or feign confidence by doing it out in the open. Talk swirled of who got their periods, who was wearing what bra size, and which boys needed to stop cultivating…
