When faced with a traumatic situation, an individual may experience a loss of identity or have a sense of depersonalization. In the photo captured and edited by Thomas Bouillot entitled “Idea #108”, a feeling of isolation is shared among viewers. The photo represents an individual who has suffered a loss of identity after experiencing a trauma or being put into an unfamiliar situation. During any experience that an individual may not recognize or be comfortable in, they might feel as if they are the only one feeling this way, making them feel isolated from those around them. In the photo, “Idea #108” by Thomas Bouillot, this idea is represented through the lonesome shoes and shadow, the area around the individual is empty; there is only a puddle being rained upon, creating a sad effect among the image. The individual in the image has no body as they may feel invisible during certain situations or experiences, or as if they have no control over what is happening to them. The individual may feel unlike themselves, which is why they are invisible in the photograph. During the period where I was emotionally abused by an acquaintance, I felt perfectly fine when I was unaware of what was happening around me. When I had finally realized what was going on, however, I felt as if I was different from everyone around me, like I was the only one who ever felt this way and received this treatment. I would describe my feelings as feelings of isolation and desperation as all I really wanted to do was get out of there and go where I felt comfortable, rather than attacked.
