Narrative Essay On Lord Of The Flies

Fear sometimes controls our actions. One time, I was at Fugitive Beach with my family and we were having a great time. We were swimming around go from rock to rock or we would go down the giant slide that went right into the water. A while after lunch my sister dared me to jump off the cliff, and I’m not a big fan of heights or jumping off tall things. I accepted the dare and we both went up the small bluff. I prepared to jump off and my sister said “You won’t jump” I looked right into her eyes and jumped off of the tall bluff, I felt like a was going to die on the way down into the water. When I got out of the water I got all the water out of my nose and I proved my sister wrong. I continued to jump off the cliff some more after the first time I jumped more then once because I …show more content…
I was very afraid to jump the first time but I am proud that I overcame that fear. Then my dad dared me to do a front flip off of the larger bluff for a liter of soda and I accepted that challenge. I got up to the top of the bluff and got really scared I thought I was going to die when I jumped off of the cliff. I completed the dare and earned myself a liter of soda. A character in Lord of the Flies I am similar to is Jack because he was scared to do something but later on overcame his fear. At the beginning of the story Jack was afraid to kill the piglet that was caught in the creepers of the forest when Jack was preparing to stab the piglet it went loose and ran off into the forest Jack was afraid and he said “I was choosing a place” (Golding 31). He didn’t stab the piglet fear took place and enabled him from killing the piglet.

Lord of the Flies (LOTF) is an unusually violent coming-of-age novel written by William Golding, about a large group of british boys who are stranded on an island all by themselves after their plane is shot down, and are faced with the unthinkable. There are many theories as to what the core message of this novel truly is; some believe that LOTF is a metaphor for the horrors that Golding witnessed during his service in WWII(this is undoubtedly the most popular theory due to the total lack of girls); a declaration of nihilism; a metaphor for the garden of eden; or that it shows the true capacity for evil that lurks within the souls of men, and the rotting pig head represents our moral depravity. I, on the other hand believe the theory that all of the character are allegories (or symbols). Ralph and Piggy together are civilization, Piggy by himself is intelligence (he also represents rationalism, but we’ll get back to that) and his glasses are technology: when the boys steal Piggy’s glasses rather than…

Sometimes one creates a dynamic impression by saying something, and sometimes one creates as significant an impression by remaining silent. ~ Dalai Lama In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies Golding establishes many dynamic characters and non-dynamic characters through the struggles of trying to a new society on a deserted island. The dynamic characters, such as Jack and Ralph, change due to savagery and going along with the crowd. While, the non-dynamic characters, such as Piggy, have a sense of reason and know what is right even when others ridicule or do not believe them.…

The Lord of the flies Almost every character in the lord of the flies has something good and bad about them, as far as we know Simon is the only character who is Pure Good, even people like Piggy, still have a bad side to them, in that example, Piggy is a very selfish and cocky individual who thinks that everyone else is much less smarter then Piggy thinks of himself. The first character to talk about is Jack, Jack is from the very beginning, known as the person who would argue and be the leader of any type of uprising, which will take on later on in the book. We know this mainly as he comes out as the leader of the boys’ choir group, which was on the same plane as the other kids who did not know each other in the beginning, people like Ralph,…

Fear usually motivates human behavior when no second chances are given, but some need realization of how bad their fear actually is. When people are facing their fear, if it is something they fear the most, they will almost always stop the cause whenever possible. In “Quitters. Inc” by Stephen King, Morrison is not allowed to smoke cigarettes anymore, or they will torture him and his family repeatedly until death depending on the amount he smokes. He smokes one impulsively because he has not experienced a fear as bad as being tortured to death, so he smokes a cigarette impulsively and begs for a second chance.…
