Narrative Essay On Heifer

I’m running back and forth, from Thailand to Tibet, Guatemala to the Urban Slums. At least, The Heifer “Global International Education” versions of these places. Our school had visited Heifer to learn more about poverty, and about each other. But, we got more than we were asking for. Tonight was the night my older siblings had told me about. We spent the evening and the next morning like someone living in these impoverished communities. But, our teams were a absolute mess. Hunger brings out the worst in people, and we were onl there for a night! But, with kids stealing each other’s rice, we couldn’t get much of anything done. Until the Slums stepped up- or so it seemed. Eric, Austin, and Olivia had the great idea to collect everyone’s food into one pot, then divide it up. The refugees, Thai, and Appalacains were pushed back into their homes, with no food and no promise for more. Once Eric was on top of a tree stomp yelling at everyone to shut up, Olivia and I decided something needed to be done. And we ran. Back and forth to each and every country with bowls of hard rice and cold vegetables, but that tasted like heaven. Without taking any for ourselves, we were so hungry I bit into a raw onion (learned my lesson there). But we rose up and led everyone to at least have a bowl, before serving ourselves. The next day, when a skit contest was announced, everyone looked to me. It just felt natural to me to step up when a cheif was needed. I had led them last night, so why not continue? Everyone started yelling about what we should do and who should play who. I steped up, we went around the circle sharing what we wanted, and an hour later, We won, coming out on top again with our twist on Romeo and Juliet. Now, this story paints me as a natural leader, which, don’t get me wrong, I believe I am, but I didn’t start that
