Personal Narrative: My Grandma Margie

My Grandma Margie always had a way of influencing me with her kindness for other people. Even though she was battling cancer she still found it in her to treat others with respect, even when they sometimes didn’t deserve it. When my sisters and I were younger, every summer we would go stay with my Grandma Margie for at least a week. She would say, “load up the truck” and we would all pile into the old, baby blue, chevy truck, and go check on the cows down the road a couple of miles. We would do everything with her from the chores around the farm, to going to the beach, or just simply riding around the four wheeler in the fields with her. She always made sure that we were having fun and had everything we needed and plus some. My Grandmother used to play a big part in her local church. During the our summers there, my grandmother did so much for the church and other people. We would be in the basement where her sewing machine is and see a bunch of cut up block patterns. We would ask, “grandma what’s this for?” Grandma Margie would then reply, “it’s a quilt i’ve been working on for a church project.” She …show more content…
In elementary school we had something called a grandparents tea. All your grandparents got to come on a certain date, and you ate cookies and juice with them as a class. When we found out about this event, my mom called my grandma and said that I had something to ask her. I asked in my little kid voice, “g-ma can you come for my grandparents tea?” She replied with, “I sure can sweetheart. I’ll be there.” This was towards the beginning of my grandma’s cancer journey, but she still make a point in coming all the way to Forest City from Terril to be there for my special day. There were many more events like this one that my grandmother made sure she was there for. She also came to my elementary school concerts, my christmas programs for church and school, and lots
