To have him as a grandfather meant tons of laughs and great life lessons. To also be the first grandson, also meant great privileges and tokens. From helping him in the yard and sitting on his lap as he let me drive his pick-up truck, I harbor many great memories of spending time with Granddaddy. He had 3 grandsons, two granddaughters, and one great grandchild, but we all had a special place in his heart. After his retirement in 2005 he spent most of his time doing most of his favorite hobbies Yard work, fishing, playing cards. I remember him often humming or singing songs I never heard before. I would often ask as a naïve child “Granddaddy what you singing?” he would answer “Good songs you’ll learn one day.” Now that I am older, I remember most of those songs to be hymns from church. Granddaddy was a God fearing Man. His Faith and prayer was put to the test when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 .He remained as strong as he could for as long as he could. He adamant about the Younger Davis Family reunion, he attended his last reunion in 2009 in Maryland. After five years of battling the war on cancer, the great soldier, I knew as Granddaddy, was called home to The Lord as he eased his pain. He is survived by His wife, three children, seven grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two siblings, and countless nieces, nephews and
