Many years ago I lined up for an experience that would change my life. This experience changed who or what I was for 8 minutes. It changed how I thought and how I felt. It truly was an experience to never be forgotten. That experience would be my first Giga Coaster. July 27th, 2013, my father and I took an exhilarating trip to King’s Dominion. King’s Dominion is a theme park located in Doswell, Virginia. I hadn’t been to many theme parks centered around roller coasters but, I could tell this was going to be an explosion of a time. I was now seeing all I witnessed in an advertisement with my very own eyes. What a fantastic birthday present this was going to be. The excitement swelled up inside me alongside the panicky feelings you get anticipating most high energy thrill rides. We began lining up for what could feel like hundreds of rides and were well entertained by most. Starting off with some good old woodies (wooden roller coasters), my Dad and I made multiple rounds riding many of the same coasters 2 or 3 times in that one day. Then, suddenly our moment came. We were at the front and the train pulled in to let off and to let on. My dad and I walked through the tiny gate, took our seats, and strapped and buckled in. I looked and him, and he looked at me. We train started moving forward and up the incline belt. It was terrifying how fast upwards it was moving. The rate was alarming. I uncomfortably shook my Dad’s hand as we approached the peak of what I would later on learn to be a 305 foot drop. He raised his arms and I raised my brows as screams from the front and from behind erupted around us. Soon my face was parallel to the ground for 3 to 5 seconds as I shot straight to the earth at 95 miles per hour. Any sounds I wanted to make were compressed.
