Personal Narrative: My First Giga Coaster

Giga Coaster

Many years ago I lined up for an experience that would change my life. This experience changed who or what I was for 8 minutes. It changed how I thought and how I felt. It truly was an experience to never be forgotten. That experience would be my first Giga Coaster. July 27th, 2013, my father and I took an exhilarating trip to King’s Dominion. King’s Dominion is a theme park located in Doswell, Virginia. I hadn’t been to many theme parks centered around roller coasters but, I could tell this was going to be an explosion of a time. I was now seeing all I witnessed in an advertisement with my very own eyes. What a fantastic birthday present this was going to be. The excitement swelled up inside me alongside the panicky feelings you get anticipating most high energy thrill rides. We began lining up for what could feel like hundreds of rides and were well entertained by most. Starting off with some good old woodies (wooden roller coasters), my Dad and I made multiple rounds riding many of the same coasters 2 or 3 times in that one day. The wooden coasters were most

Then, suddenly our moment came. We were at the front and the train pulled in to let off and to let on. My dad and I walked through the tiny gate, took our seats, and strapped and buckled in. I looked and him, and he looked at me. We train started moving forward and up the incline belt. It was terrifying how fast upwards it was moving. The rate was alarming. I uncomfortably shook my Dad’s hand as we approached the peak of what I would later on learn to be a 305 foot drop. He raised his arms and I raised my brows as screams from the front and from behind erupted around us. Soon my face was parallel to the ground for 3 to 5 seconds as I shot straight to the earth at 95 miles per hour. Any sounds I wanted to make were compressed. We hit the bottom and immediately ricocheted to the right and I woke

I remember the gut wrenching feeling in my stomach as my best friend and I approached the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Hershey Park, called SkyRush. I am not sure why I agreed to go on this roller coaster, considering most of the time at amusement parks I entertain myself with food, and miniature rides that stay level to the ground. Unlike me, my friend liked the rush and heart dropping feeling of being at the apex of a roller coaster and then dropping down at maximum speed. Personally, I preferred the ground, where I remained in full control of my own safety. Yet that afternoon I found myself standing in line for SkyRush.…

My friend, Odina, was laughing beside me the whole time; she did not know how worried and anxious I was about this devastating rollercoaster. It is called the Iron Rattler, and it stood at a height of one hundred-eighty feet tall. The other passengers were energized with excitement, anxiety, and fear. I felt uncomfortable getting on the rollercoaster because I thought I was going to die. I thought maybe the rollercoaster would fall…

Sit back, buckle up, and get ready to scream because I love roller coasters. My family and I go to Cedar Point about every month in the summer, and my dad and I go and ride everything in the park. It is just so fun! The one thing I really like about roller coasters is that there are little rides for the youth kids also. My least favorite thing is when I am not tall enough to enjoy a ride, which doesn’t really occur anymore.…

We went to Kings Dominion yesterday and it was really fun. I’m scared of height, so I never really ride anything, but yesterday my friends force me on the Domination ride, it was one of those big roller coasters. I keep on telling them I can’t ride it and I’m really scared, but everybody just ignores me while they dragged by my arms and the other pushes me from behind to get on. Once we got down, they asked how was it…

So this meant that my brother and sister got to sit in the very front of the roller coaster car, and my dad and I were right behind them. When we got in, it seemed like no time had passed from when we got in the line, to when we were seated in the ride getting ready for a moment that I would never forget. We waited for about 30 seconds for the workers to make sure everybody was strapped in safely. When the carts then started down this tiny slope to a straight away over the water. I was a mix of scared and excited for the ride.…

It was the largest, most thrilling roller coaster yet to be found. I didn't believe it but knowing my best friend Prisa she was not gonna let me miss out on as she would always say, “once in a lifetime opportunities”. It was a hot, sunny day as the sun lit up the whole park. The blunt air had no wind or even a soft gentle breeze. It was just plain old humid and to add on to that, we were crowded with a solid 200 people in the line,…
