“No!!” I screamed as I saw my dad’s fishing bobber fly off the line and land on the other side of the murky, dirty pond.
His last words I heard echoed in my mind “Don’t break or lose anything on my fishing pole please Emma, you are responsible for it.”
My friend Liz ran over to me, she followed my gaze to where the bobber landed in the water, she didn’t say anything.
“I tried to tie my Dad’s bobber on, but as you can see I didn’t do very well. I have to get the bobber,” I said with a determined look, so we began the journey.
As we walked over to the marshy area expecting some sort of horrible animal to jump out and try to eat us, to our surprise it was quiet. We kept moving, going just as slow, quiet, and calm as a deer, then all of a sudden Liz stopped so fast I ran into her back and just about fell into the gross water.
“Liz what on earth?” I said being a little frustrated at the close encounter to falling into the green, fish infested water hole of death. She looked at me and I knew she was going to say something I didn’t like.

After about 5 minutes of hysterical screaming and crying, I got ahold of myself. I walked over to the railroad tracks and grabbed a rock about ready to smash the leach even if my foot got smashed with it, but Liz abruptly stopped me. “Emma, what in the world are you doing?” She asked looking very concerned as I was holding a rock above my foot ready to do whatever was necessary to kill the bloodsucking, slimy leach.
“What’s it look like?” I asked with a ton of sarcasm, but apparently she didn’t take it with a grain of salt. I could tell I made her mad but I didn’t realize just how mad until she pinned me down and ripped the leech off of my foot with such force and quickness that I had no time to stop her.
