But as I walked into the newly build Rose Park Elementary school on Thursday at 8:00 in the morning nerves started to build. A child came into the room. He was the first student to enter the room. The boy started crying. I was concerned because I had no idea why he was crying. The teacher swooped in and ask her student what was wrong. Explain that he didn’t want to sit in the classroom alone. So Mrs. Vogelzang suggested that he go outside and play with the children who had gotten to school earlier. He instantly stopped crying and ran out the door to have some fun with his friends. I stood in amazement that Mrs. Vogelzang just solved the problem so quickly. As the 8:10 bell rang the students came flooding the classroom. They all knew the routine. At Holland Christian the students do something that no public school along with my own elementary school did, they pray. I do not know why but I was astonished that they did, even though it was a Christian school. I am just not used to that yet. All the kids folded their hands we all prayed together as a class. I thought that it was really cool to start the day on the right foot, with the Lord. They proceeded to do the weather and the calendar. Mrs. Vogelzang picked a students’ name out of a cup to tell us the weather and counted how many number of days they have been in school. The selected child was so excited that he gets to help the
