Narrative Essay On Christianity

To a normal person, it may look that someone with an abundance of material things has it all. People usually make assumptions that if someone is financially secure, all of their problems are solved. That is normally never the case. Growing up in a fortunate family we were secure in almost everyway, but there was always an unconscious emptiness. Of course, my family did not know that until we experienced the “fullness”.
Since I was a newborn until nine years of age my family attended a Methodist church. This church was strictly formatted and neat, the majority of members there were over the age of fifty. Though my parents would want me to stay with them in the “big church” I would usually complain, and get their permission to sneak out to

We started to attend a non-denominational mega church here in Dallas. It did not take long for our family to fall in love with our new church, pastor and community. All of the members of this church looked the same, we all drove a similar car, and owned similar houses. When I transitioned into this new church it was a great endeavor meeting new friends and getting to know my kind and energetic leaders. Everyone was full of excitement in the youth department, and that made me look forward to coming every Sunday. My parents and my older sisters would share with me all of the new sermons that they heard and what it meant to them. There was an immense amount of informative teaching, that even my father had become moved. My mother has always been a Christian, but did not do anything about it. She would pray for my father to accept Jesus and knew that the Lord would guide our family onto the path of righteousness. As my father was catching on, and my mother grew deeper in her relationship with God we were progressing as a family. My father accepted Christ and then my whole family caught on as he took authority as the spiritual leader of our family. We not only grew closer to the Lord but we grew more intimate as a

I was introduced to the Baptist religion when I was in kindergarten. A group of people from my town’s Baptist church came to my house immediately after September 11, 2001. They chose to come to our house because they felt moved to preach the good news to my mother who was a firefighter at the time. Their ultimate goal was to spread the good news to our whole family. After they left my house, my mom came into my bedroom to tell me what she had just learned.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

It was a whole new church that my family was just attending while we were passing through the area, in all honesty I probably only attended five churches in my life prior, due to the fact that my family travelled so vigorously. This being said I wasn’t very holy I just kinda went because due to my age I ended up playing games most the time, never really having to be preached too. This church was contrastive than the prior experiences I was exposed to because I had to go to the main service area with my mother and father. To be blunt this was my first formal introduction to “my lord.” It began with singing, which I even had to endure at the children's ministry, but then came the hour and a half of my first meeting with who this man people always talked about really was.…

I got involved with a small group with two other guys, one guy being a friend and the other being a campus staff guy. Through that small group we decided that our biggest need at the moment was being trained to read God word and able to share our faith with other people. I attended a 10 week long summer project in Tampa, Florida where I learned to share my faith for the first time and was able to led 5 people to Christ. It was a joy and a passion that begin to grow in my life. I developed a heart to take the gospel back to my campus where I wanted other people to hear the same thing that I had heard, knowing they could be in the same position I was at in college.…

Christianity has always been a vast part of my life and an abundant part of me. I grew up in a Methodist church, the same one my parents were married in, and where I was baptized. My childhood memories are filled with skipping down the church halls to Sunday school and playing in our chimes and bells groups. Although I am not an extraordinarily talented singer, I was even a member in our children’s choir. I spent many summers at our Grand Mesa Methodist Church Camp and participating in our vacation bible school.…

Who Is Jesus I am thankful to my grandparents and to my mother for introducing me as a toddler to Jesus. As a child, Jesus meant the man who died on a cross to forgive all of us of our sins. At 42 years of age, I still know that to be true, but oh how my definition of who Jesus really is has grown. As a Teen Raised in a very strict Pentecostal church in the 80’s and early 90’s, Jesus became a name that meant restriction, fear, and sometimes, even punishment.…

During my childhood and lower teens, I was very involved in church. I would go to every event or meeting put on by our church.
