Charlie’s Law Can we call it a Murphy’s law night? That’s basically what it was. A night where anything that could have gone wrong did. My dog Charlie is a very different kind of dog. She can be very high strung at times. She is a black lab that loves, and I mean would jump off a 10 foot drop just to be able to run. To set the setting of this lovely night my dog put me thru I guess I should mention I used to live in Sonora, Ca.. In Sonora all you have is mountains, multiple lakes and creeks, and wild animals life with your occasional community of houses. My mom, brother, and me had just returned from Fremont, Ca for a week. As we were trying to unload the car of kids, dogs, and the inevitable car ride mess. Charlie decides it’s time for a run. It was around 9 O'clock P.M. and pitch black outside. These people had a field in their backyard that was not gated in. So I ran in front of their house deciding if I should try and go into their backyard. There house was down a street that was pitch black I couldn’t see anything. I could hear the creek that I later found out even existed. At this point I gave up. I started to walk back to my house. I didn’t have my phone to call my mom or even a light. At one point I should have mentioned, when chasing Charlie by the stables I saw my mom driving to find us. Except I watched her turn the exact opposite direction I was. With no phone to call her it was hopeless. As I continued my walk back home in decreasing weather temperatures. I heard dogs barking, it sounded like a huge dog barking. And out of the pitch black field i saw Charlie running faster than i have ever see her 2 foot tall legs run before.
