Day 43

Burning the zombies might seem effective as it became harder to track us either by zombies or humans. Emma and Gigi went out to gather supplies in the forest. Bear just killed a wild cow that seemed to have just gotten lost in the area. I would sometimes feel guilty of having to slaughter animals especially since they are also living creatures but I always knew I would not have any other choice. Since I do not know how to butcher animals, I wondered if we should just grill them again but Dominic took the cow that was already very dead. (Thanks to the claw of Bear) He tore it apart so well that I felt like we would have enough food for the next few days. He skinned the cow first and placed it in the coal, he said Bear may like it but

It felt like I had a younger brother. Growing up with Athena and Bonnie was nice but they treated me like a girl when we were together. They fixed my hair and dressed me in their clothes. My mother found it really funny but my dad thinks otherwise. He only had one fellow in the family so he made sure I knew my place. Dom was funny and he was pretty tough looking for his age. He told me that they had to shoot one of their friends who turned into a zombie. They were pretty shaken by it but they knew that he was no longer the friend that they know. He also told me that he did not know Emma that well because she did not go to the same school. She just joined them in the camping trip because her friend invited her. When the apocalypse broke out, everybody was scared and they panicked. Most of their campmates received a call from their parents asking them to return to the city. His mom sent him a message too but he was not confident that he would survive the trip back to their home. If it were up to him, he wanted to climb up a mountain but they had no gear for it and Emma said that supplies can easily run out when they are there. They also did not have any winter clothes and the weather up in the mountains might have just killed them. He also asked me how we got to tame a dangerous bear but I didn’t have any answer apart from the fact that we saved Bear from a scary looking zombie.

From their dead eyes to their rotting bodies, the image of the zombie has become an icon in today’s society. Surpassing other horror characters, zombies over the years have become prevalent across a multitude of medias and genres. Although these brain-eating creatures are a work of fiction, author Chuck Klosterman argues that the life of the zombie apocalypse does not stray as far away from today’s society as some would think. Through his essay, My Zombie, Myself, Klosterman discusses the prevalence of zombies in media today through rhetorical devices such as allusions, anecdotes, and figurative language in order to convey that the human way of life is becoming more akin to that of a zombie’s.…

Around 10 a.m. I woke up, stretched and brushed my teeth. I turned on my television, like my daily routine. Well, today was different. Every channel displayed, “Breaking News: ‘Evacuate your homes now and get to a safe location, a zombie apocalypse has started and is coming to an area near you’”. The first three things I decided I needed to do were a zombie apocalypse would be to gather my family who were uninfected, run out of town, and find someone creating an antidote.…

It was a perfect setting for a final boss. Rawrr! The boss zombie comes running out to us with another horde of zombies following right behind him. Including hunters. A hunter jumped right in front of me and was about to pin me down. He was quick, but I was quicker. I ducked beneath him and ran for my life. The Zombie Apocalypse is an event I feel I've been prepped for my entire life. Assuming typical scary movie rules apply: in order to survive I must find a rag tag group of people who are sane as well as very skill at using weapons. To help prevent being that that cliché person that trips, my team and I would raid a shoe store for well fitting, non slip shoes. Next we would wear various layers of coats just in case if we were caught, zombies would struggle to get to our flesh and we would have time escape from their grasp. Next we would travel north and go to a region that was not very populated prior to the apocalypse. We would avoid the woods and romantic relationships would be strictly prohibited. Our route would go through small towns prone…

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was a beautiful morning on August 13, 2013, a Tuesday. I remember rays of sunshine slipping through the blinds awakening me from my peaceful slumber. I slowly crawled out of my bed and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. Where is the smell of coffee? Where is the blaring sound of country music dad plays every morning? I immediately knew something was wrong. I continued my walk to the living room where I found my mother hunched over, clutching a phone to her ear while my dad, perched next to her, rubbed smooth, comforting circles on her back. My mom took no notice of me, while my dad on the other hand was giving me a look confirming my thoughts. I stood by the doorway for a few minutes before I decided to retreat back to my room coming to the conclusion that my parents were not going to acknowledge me for some time. My sisters and sat I together and pondered what could have happened. About twenty minutes later, my parents come in with looks of despair on their faces. It was then I found out my cousin Billy was dead.…

My siblings on my dad’s side are much older than me, i haven’t seen them since I was in elementary school. I don’t know a lot about them, I only remember little parts with Myiah cause she was in my life just for a little while and we didn’t have much time it spend and get to actually know each other. I remember a lot of memories with Aune she was so much fun to be around when I went to my dad’s house. When I went to my dad’s house we would always have fun together. Me and her would always find something to do. When I went to my dad’s house which was most of the time my uncle Leonard's or Aunes moms house, We would always be with my cousins and we would always be up late. It would always be fun because my dad’s side of the family is so loud and there would always be music running throughout the house. Me and my dad always played cards in the kitchen and when me and him won we would dance around the table and sing “we are the champions”, I also remember when I went to his house I would always stand on his feet in the kitchen and we would…

“A lot of modern life is exactly like slaughtering zombies.” This statement is true in the eyes of Chuck Klosterman, where he expresses opinions in his article “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead”. In correlation, to the movie Warm Bodies directed by Jonathan Levine one can see that there are many things that we can relate to in modern life that can also be seen in a zombie apocalypse world. For example, in both worlds you can see that once we adapt to our daily lives of work, school, invasion of zombies, and disease, we end up developing a predictable routine in life, no matter the situation. All in all, I believe that there are similarities in a zombie flesh eating world and in the modern world we live in today, we ourselves…

There are some characteristics that are similar between the Bennetto family and mine. I don’t have the same father situation as Charley has in the story, but I know what it is like for my dad to always push me to apex in everything I do. Even though my father doesn’t only care how I do in sports, I still felt like I let him down throughout my high school career. Which I think is similar in some way to what Charley’s dad did to him, but fortunately I've have my dad my whole life and he has always been there for me. I am close to most of my family members, which Charley is never around his family or sister. Through the years my brother has been secluded from the rest of the family, but I understand that he wants to go a diverse way in his life…

The day began much the same as any other – meaning I managed to stumble out of bed and drift through the menial tasks of the morning, but little else. In short, nothing terribly interesting happened beyond the fact I didn’t singe my eyebrows off or burn my home down in an effort to cook breakfast. Actually, considering my zombie state of mind, I completed my chores with a shocking amount of success. An achievement, I must admit, that inspired me to journey beyond the walls of my safe little box yet again.…

The last few years have been like a zombie apocalypse to say the least. We've had many arguments where things have been said and feelings hurt. Never did we really sit down and discuss what happened or had a heartfelt apology. We just brushed it under a very large rug and moved on. Obviously that has not been working. As we continue to argue and not truly forgive, while not changing what we are doing I feel like we are slipping further and further away from each other. One particular moment that happened between us has been lingering over me every time we get together no matter how hard I try to forget that moment in time. First let's start with the happier times.…

The creation of monsters like vampires and zombies presents itself as an allegory the “day to day existence.” Articles like “Why Vampires Never Die” by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan and “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead “ by Chuck Klosterman emphasizes the correlation between folktale and reality. The difference between Folktale and reality is that folktale and reality is that folktale are variations of stories from many cultures, while reality is something that exist and can be proven. This creates room for the idea of death to be a significant aspect to the rise of monstrous beings, as listed prior. The idea of what happens after life, known as death varies amongst cultures and…

Could you ever imagine waking up one day and everything was different? Not being able to be sprawled out in your perfectly good bed each morning, but waking up in various locations for protection. Having to carry some sort of weapon every time you go outside just in case you run into a pack of zombies looking for fresh flesh. This all seemed too much and it was only my first year at Missouri State. A zombie apocalypse was not something I expected from college, especially to be one of the few survivors’ left on campus. I was on my own and I needed to find the right supplies to stay alive. Missouri State’s campus was huge and I did not even know where to begin to look. I scavenged through all the buildings, looking for some essentials of what…
