the room had a wooden rocking chair which looked like it been used time and time again, a wardrobe that had pillows blankets and deflated balls. the air inside the room had a strong smell of what i 'm assuming was disinfectant. they told me i wasn 't able to drink or eat anything not that i minded much i was a little nauseous. the nurses did warn me about that but i didn 't believe i could get nauseous. all i wanted was a big pitcher of water to drink but all i was allowed was ice chips that came in a little stryofoam cup. after six or seven hours into my labor my contraction pain was excruciating, i had planned for a natural birth like my grandmother had done for all of her six children, but i knew that wasn 't going to happen. i asked them for the painkiller they said they could give me thru my i.v within two minuets i felt relief. i fell into a deep sleep which i dreamed mainly of water and a cheeseburger from Denny 's. i woke up to the unbearable pain, i began shaking. i told my mom it hurts, she didn 't know how it felt she had high risks deliveries and the doctors had to keep her medicated the whole time, so there wasn 't much so could do to help me but tell me it was going to be okay. the nurse whose name was Kathrine said i was only seven centimeters dilated. i asked my mom if he could as about an epidural I 've had one for a previous surgery so i knew it could help with the pains that were

Surrounded by a team of nurses, one doctor, and what seemed to be a grouping of blinding lights, I had a peculiar moment of serenity. I can’t quite explain whether it was the epidural or the fact that for twelve hours my body was engulfed by excruciatingly painful contractions which seemed to be attacking me in a sporadic manner, but in that one moment everything was perfect. Somehow I just let go off every single fear I had, I just remembered that in any moment there would be an extraordinary occurrence. Although a natural part in many women’s lives, since the beginning of time, it was a phenomenon in my life.…
