I touched with online games when grade 2, once touched it can hardly stop. I know a grade 2 student is too young to play online games, but it brought fun to me, more interesting than playing outside with friends.

Online games changed my life permanently. It happened to me——a small boy.

I can remember that was 2006, I played online games while night at an Eve of Chinese New Year ——the most important festival/day in China, it was so fascinating that I can’t stop playing it. I got an idea: put money into games, buying others higher level game account. When a new month started, I got 200 RMB for lunch, but I was going to use this money for games. I faked a story about I dropped money on taxi and told my parents. Successfully, I kept these 2 pieces of Holly-Red-Paper and hid in my bag. In a weekend, I found a man who was going to sold his high-level game account, it was so beckoning! “That’s what I want!” I thought. I chatted with him on QQ. “I have spent much money on this account, but I don’t have enough time play anymore. You just give me a Game-Point -Card equal to 100RMB. It’s a friendship-price, my friend. My phone number is XXXX-XXXXXXXX, you may call me now.” he typed on

Whether the world wants to admit it or not, the internet has truly taken over our brains. Not in the sense of complete control, but it does change the way that we think. In The Shallows, Nicholas Carr describes his view on the matter along with many interesting facts to back up his reasoning. Monopoly, a board game released eighty years ago, managed to capture the hearts of nearly everyone who had a chance to play, teaching children both how to add and become wealthy real estate moguls in one simple package. The gameplay thrilled people across nations as they marched determinedly through hours of exciting transactions, budget keeping, and hotel management. Everybody wanted a piece of the action – myself included. The game was a refreshing break from such mindless entertainment as television and video games, and helped me learn at an early age that life is a cruel, dog-eat-dog race for the only thing that gives it meaning: money.…

Edgar Allen Poe captivated everyone with the short story The Tell-Tale Heart, which forced readers to questions one's mental state, deciding on whether someone is guilty or innocent, whether someone is conscious of their actions, or if they are sane or criminally insane. The Tell-Tale Heart is the perfect example of the argument of whether an individual is aware of their actions and the crimes they commit or if they are possessed and driven to commit crimes by something in their mind, in which they could possibly use an insanity plea during their trial if they are caught. The narrator, who Edgar Allen Poe portrays as insane, is not, and during this essay, I will outline examples as to why he is not and that he is fully aware of the crimes that he is committing. The first example as to his premeditation is how he is explaining the story to the audience.…

Video gaming, what was once a niche hobby generally only enjoyed and played by people who were seen as geeks has had a radical popularity. In 2016, the games industry has managed to become worth billions of dollars, the games themselves have become more mature and have appealed to wider audiences and communities of millions of people have formed around specific games. My personal experience with gaming comes from my time playing World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role playing game where anyone can create a character and work alongside others to achieve goals like killing certain monsters. What makes World of Warcraft unique is that rather than playing through a story on your own, a large part of the game includes interaction…

The idea of sense of community as a social concept revolves around people getting “a feeling of belonging and being important to each other” (Anderson and Milligan 21), whenever they behaved they have made an effect in their community. The uplifting feeling creates a connection between members in their community, thus leads to future collaborations to improve the community. Video games accurately present this social concept by establishing an audience centered on a specific video game franchise. This connection is presented by how video games create communities, players helping out newcomers get familiar with their community’s video game, and how people united to save a major tournament. For decades, video games have always been an experience solely for the gamer playing his personal copy of the video game, aside when multiple people join up for round of multiplayer.…
