Narrative Essay: I Made Up In The Middle Of The Woods

HE WOKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE woods with a pounding headache and a stinging pain between his shoulder blades. He was lying face down on top of a giant stone altar with his arms extended and bent and his legs stretched out in different directions. A pool of blood encircled him, and handfuls of unusual white feathers were scattered all around him. It was an hour after midnight. He had no memories of who he was, where he was at, or of what had just occurred only an hour ago… Uhhh… Where am I? he wondered, slowly opening and closing his big, golden brown eyes. As his eyes were adjusting to the soft light of the full moon, he listlessly picked the bloody left side of his face off of the giant stone altar’s cold, hard surface. “Ow,” he grunted, …show more content…
The blade was so sharp that it whistled whenever the wind blew on it. The second thing that caught his attention was the sword’s razor sharp pommel; it was a giant tear-shaped ruby that was fixed in place with platinum prongs extending out from the grip. He then quickly and painfully stood up on his naked feet and stumbled towards the edge of the giant stone

He immediately fell back onto his knees. If I keep falling down like this, I might not be able to get back up. I need to use this newfound strength, while I can. With this in the back of his mind, he got back up on his naked feet and carefully climbed off of the edge of the stone altar.
Just as he was about to leave the stone altar behind him for good, he turned around and gave it one last look. It was then that he realized that he had been lying on top of a large serpent pentagram this whole time. What the hell happened here?! he wondered, staring wide-eyed at the eerie serpent pentagram that covered the entirety of the altar. As much as he would’ve liked to stay and investigate the stone altar even further, he knew that he couldn’t linger for much longer. The sounds of the men and horse grew nearer and nearer. I better stop dawdling and get out of

Arthurian Legends Synthesis Essay The Arthurian Legend “The Sword in the Stone” demonstrates how literature is modified over time, specifically during the Victorian Era (early-late 1800’s) and into the Modern Age (post 1901). Literary adjustments, including those of Arthur’s character and subtle changes in setting and placement of the sword masterfully demonstrate the fluidity of culture within a piece of literature . The Victorian Era, represented by work The Sword of Kingship, showed a clear dependence on the industrial revolution as it heavily affected the British economy and thus, was reflected in the literature through the addition of the anvil surrounding the sword. The Modern Age, including the work “Arthur and the Sword in the Stone,”…

My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…
