Narrative Essay: Gender Stereotypes In High School

Homeroom had always been rowdy. Mondays had always brought it up a notch, so the first Monday of the year really tested any teacher's patience. There were some students trying to chatter over each other about the small details of their summer they hadn't put on their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. while others were still in summer mode, messing around as if they weren't surrounded by a sea of wooden desks.
Sylvester and Lewis made into the classroom just on time to see Rafael messing around with a small kid, probably a freshman.
Like many of the basketball team member, Rafael was a tall and trim guy and held a mop of dark curls and an elfish grin most people had come to learn wasn't a good sign. The guy knew how to get the students roar

It's stupid! I know it," retorted the boy, obviously agitated that several juniors were paying too much attention. Still unknowing of the full situation, Lewis furrowed his eyebrows in suspicion while Sylvester pulled out a sports magazine and began to read it, indifferent to these situations.
"You don't even know what it means. Huevos mean eggs, and you said you ate some in the morning," said confidently Rafael. "No! They told me not to talk to you guys unless I have to!" articulated vaguely the freshman. This statement had a few of the athletes turning heads and looking at each other in confusion. One of the guys from the soccer team stepped forward and casually asked, "Who?" as the rest of the athletes tried to act nonchalant and uninterested.
"The student body… " whispered the boy. Lewis's eyebrows shot high up his forehead as he was momentarily shocked. All the sports teams save for tennis were on bad terms with A.S.B ever since Robert Winters, the student body president, had started a petition to cut down most of the funds are given to the sports department. In the end, Winters failed, but the fact that A.S.B tried in the first place burned many of the bridges between the two groups. Only a few people, like Theodore Harper, held good relations between the sport's department and the student council. Now, it seemed like A.S.B was trying to convince potential players to not enter the sports in hope to cripple the athlete's

Lewis scooted his chair closer to Sylvester's and pretended to be interested in the big guy's magazine as he felt Ethan's eyes running across his body.
Rafael, being a good friend, told Ethan what was getting everyone to snicker. The freshman must have heard because he suddenly inflamed, and tried to throw a punch at the future basketball captain, but with the various older athletes around him, the freshman wasn't able to lay a finger on Rafael. The boy gave up and walked away, but not before scowling at Rafael. Lewis only shook his head, feeling pity for the freshman.
The late bell rang. Hair mussed and shirt wrinkled, Ms. Carol rushed in holding a small stack of papers. Everyone settled down, knowing what those papers held. Lewis straightened his back, and even Sylvester briefly looked up from his magazine. "Good morning." said cheerfully Ms. Carol, who got a monotonous echo in return, but it seemed she didn't mind as she smiled at the whole

Dawn broke to an explosion of bird songs, the cacophony startling Booker awake with a disgruntled groan. Unimpressed by the early morning alarm clock, he angrily pulled his pillow over his head and attempted to drown out the noise. But after several minutes, the humorous fact that the sound easily penetrated through the downy feathers brought a good-natured smile to his lips, and with a resigned sigh, he threw the pillow to the floor and sat up. From across the room, Tom yawned loudly, a sleepy smile spreading across his face.…

The halls of Cherokee Elementary School are very vivid in my memory even in my teen years. The last time I had even seen the school, much less walk in it, was about three or four years ago. Even the rooms in the school are glued to my brain, which leads me to conclude that small things that do not seem that important or please you can please you later. The parking lot was cracked and worn with age, and the half-torn down playground was right next to it, staring down the entrance to the school. Walking to the entrance doors, you see the trailers used as classrooms because at one point, the school was littered with kids from the whole county, but Youngs Grove Elementary sucked up all the kids like vacuums.…
