Three minutes after he calls, Sally doesn’t show up, so he calls over the intercom again. After calling Sally four times he realizes she is not coming to help at the registers. The random guy buying his two things, which was yogurt and a six-pack of beer, starts getting more agitated, starting to ask if Vons wants to lose his business. The other locals and I start to chat about how we’ve never seen this guy before. We know there is a lot of time in the day but we’ve all been going to this Vons for 18 years plus. It’s becoming clear to us that the random guy is drunk and only talking out of his ass because he just wants to go home and drink more. I start to become embarrassed for him and try to look anywhere but in his direction. The customer with all the alcohol finally is finished and pays, leaving as quickly as he can. The guy in front of me with water and milk quickly gets checked out and then it’s my turn or so I thought. The guy with yogurt and beer comes up and puts his stuff in front of mine saying he has to leave. Since I was already embarrassed for him and afraid of what he might do, I kept my head down and let him be rung up. When he was done being checked out the older employee started to ring up my things and said five bucks, so I gave him a ten and I apologized for the guy that caused a scene as if I knew him because on the inside I was embarrassed. They act as if their shit don’t stink because they didn’t have to be respectful as a child so why start as an adult. I know different families have different morals and standards, but I never thought that no respect would be on that list. The random guy wasn’t just disrespectful to me by cutting in line, but also to the Vons employees who didn’t sign up to work overtime to only be yelled at. The employees are not responsible for how many people work and at what time they have to show up. The random guy did not put into consideration what time it was and how many workers they really need late at night. This really lowered my expectations for respect, patience, and kindness from anyone I meet in my
