Short Story: Drinking Water Changed My Life

“Yeah. It is better than working in the field. Would it be alright if I stopped and played soccer on the way home though?” I ask just to make sure.
“That is alright but do not leave our water out in the hot sun for too long.”
“Alright. Let us go.” I tell her as I eagerly walk out of the hut. We walk all the way there to find that there is no water in our source. What in the world happened to all of the water?
We go around asking every one if they know what happened to the water source, and no one can give us an explanation. Eventually mom decides just to head home. I stay out looking for water for hours. Our family can not just go with no water. We would not survive.
“Hey sir. Do you know what happened to the water source over in the big field right outside of town?” I asked to every one I saw for the next few hours.
“Do I know you kid?” Or “where are your parents?” Would be the response I got every single time.

What am I going to do? I can not just let my family go with out water. The only other water source I can think of is the pond that I go fishing at, and you could not pay me to drink the water out of that disgusting pond. I decide that my best option is to go ask my friends playing soccer if they have any idea where a good clean water source is.
After walking the several miles all the way back almost to my home, I finally get to the field. Thierry, Akachi, Khayone, and Kachawa were the only ones out there playing today.
“Hey do any of you guys know where a good water source is? The well that my family usually goes to ran out of water today, and my family has no water.”
“Yeah. Just come with me, and I will show you the well that my family and I use Kungawo.” Thierry tells me.
“Alright thank you so much. You are a life saver.” I remind him.
“Yeah.” He says

California Water Crisis How would you feel if you didn’t have enough water to use the restroom everyday, or if you couldn’t shower for over 6 months? Being that California has been in a gargantuan drought for the past 4 to 5 years, water has been in short supply in more places than not. Farmers claim that they should be allowed unlimited access to the state’s supply of groundwater, solely in view of money crops. Ironically, while farmers are making these claims there are people in these towns, traveling 3 to 6 hours to get a gallon of water to last their families a week. Many believe that there should be regulations and water control considering farmers are complaining that they grow crops to sell,…

During the 18th century, France possessed the colony known to them as Saint Domingue, an island in the Caribbean Sea. Possessing valuable resources and optimal conditions for growing expensive crops such as sugar, France dedicated much of their money into this little island, allowing Saint Domingue to become the wealthiest colony in this time period. However, the Haitian slaves revolted against the French colonial rulers, resulting in the first complete successful slave rebellion in history. However, the cost of the war, natural disasters, and a French "independence tax" crippled the former colony, leading to an almost instantaneous decline in the country's wealth and prosperity. Either You’re in Town or Remembering Water Urinetown, while a humorous musical, is about more than being whimiscal. It shines a light on the depleting resource that is water; “But too bad the water that we share could fit inside a cup!” (Kotis and Hollmann 52). The conceptual minds of Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann, authors of Urinetown, align with Emmi Itaranta, author of Memory of Water. Their ideals concerning water contribute to a common theme exploring the possibilities of a world where water is sparse.…
