Personal Narrative: My Trip To The City Of Denver

Improved Essays
Narrative Essay Rough Draft Ever feel like you need to pack up your bags and leave? Or need a change of scenery? Need to meet new people? Do you ever feel like you just need to leave? I know I do. My mindset about leaving has yet to change, although many said it would by the time things start getting “real.” I never understood what people meant by that. Is being “real” staying 30 miles from home in the same place you have lived your whole life? If so, that’s not what I want. Why can’t doing what I want with my life be achievable and real? Regardless of what others say, I am making it realistic. This August, I toured colleges in Arizona and Colorado with my mom. The day finally came where my ideas were becoming a reality. I was about to tour …show more content…
The city of Denver is a lot sketchier than you would think. And overall dirty. I was getting a bad vibe from the start. First of all, the campus is spread all throughout the city. I would have to travel miles to get from one building to another. I knew it was pointless to travel to Colorado. Denver was not the place for me. Stop number two, and the final destination: Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs sounds like a fancy, high end place just by the name, like Palm Springs or something. After Denver, it was safe to say I was not optimistic about this final college tour. I knew I would love my life down in Arizona. But, I thought I shouldn’t complain since I get the opportunity to tour these beautiful colleges in any location I would like. It’s a chance not many people get, so I decided to keep an open mind about Colorado Springs. Let me start by saying, thank God I kept an open mind. If there was one word to describe my experience visiting Colorado Springs and the college, it would be perfect. I did not think it could get better than Arizona, but Colorado Springs was there to shut me up. Imagine a brand new, clean, gorgeous campus perched on top of a hill surrounded by snow covered mountains in every direction. It seemed as if this place was made exactly for me. Insane hiking within walking distance from campus, breath-taking scenery in every single direction; my only thought was “Why isn’t everyone living

I believe TCU is a great fit because I think it is the perfect school for me to develop into a productive adult. It is a prestigious school that honors discipline and hard-work which I believe are two characteristics I can work on. The level of education is also held at a high standard and I believe I can become a part of that. The campus also seems to be very friendly and welcoming and appears to be a school I can adjust to. I like the fact that it is a small campus which allows more individual…

An increase in the flow of people enrolling in colleges throughout the country every decade has made colleges step up their game to look more enticing to the new prospects. With colleges attempting to draw in more potential students, the information posted on their websites or brochures may be biased or the college may not live up to the expectations the prospects gleaned. It is also possible that the college thinks that they met the criteria set for themselves; yet, the current students may think otherwise. Every college should be carefully examined with a specific set of criteria before a student decides to attend that college. Grand Canyon University (GCU) mostly meets the criteria it establishes for itself through its’ four pillars: Christian…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

When I was thirteen years old, I visited Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado while I was on a road trip with my sister and my uncle. My face was squished against the passenger seat window of the forest green Subaru Outback. My uncle was driving and my younger sister was sitting in the back. 1) Being a music performance student here at the University, it speaks directly to my academic and personal interests in participating in this purposed May Term Travel Course. As a classically trained flutist, and one who frequently engages with music from the Classical era, the whole experience would be an excellent opportunity for me to immerse myself in the culture and atmosphere that directly influenced the many compositions I come into contact with on a daily basis. As a scholar, it would grant me the ability to absorb not only factual/historical information regarding composers and events of that era, but also interact with the world and society shaped these people and their works. As a musician, it would better inform my performance practices and deepen my appreciation for the pieces I perform, ultimately allowing me to translate that into a greater and more rewarding experience for the audience and myself.…

When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat and with goggles on, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers, until something had exploded and I had discovered the best way to make flowers the size of people. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world. Funnily enough, I discovered what I really wanted to do when I started working at Chick-fil-A during the summer before my sophomore year. All of my friends had warned me against working in fast food, quoting horrible smells and ridiculous customers and tons of grease.…
