The summer of 2016 my family and I decided to plan a trip to Destin, Florida. My family and I then booked the trip for summer 2017 at our beautiful, amazing, and peaceful condominium called, Surfside. My family and I adventured out and did three activities while on vacation. We went snorkeling, parasailing, and to Shell Island in Panama City. My family and I decided to leave on a late Friday evening. We had driven all night and extremely exhausted even with all of us taking turns driving. I was currently running on no sleep with four Monster energy drinks in my system. I thought the traffic wasn’t going to be as bad at night rather as in the morning, but it was. There were tons of semi-tractor trailer trucks, and everybody on the road had …show more content…
Our check in time wasn’t until 4 o’clock pm. First, we decided to go eat lunch at Fudpuckers. I decided to try alligator, it was tough and didn’t have must taste at all. They have live alligators. You can sit and explore and watch them interact with other live alligators and people. As we got closer to the live alligators all I seemed to notice is their scaly body and extremely unpleasant smell. The alligators smelled like a dead rat that had been sitting in a room for hours. If you wanted to pay more money, you could hold them, feed them, and get a picture taken. After we ate, we decided to do some sightseeing to get familiar with our surroundings, and what activities my family and I wanted to do while we were in Florida for the whole week. We made a trip to the local Walmart nearby to get fresh fruit and groceries for our condominium. This way we could save some money by …show more content…
I could hear the waves crashing into one another. It also seemed like the game, Dominos. My family and I were crab hunting. We had seen some ghost crabs and sand fleas, which were very pale and white. Still to this day I can smell the ocean, salty and breezy. The smell of the ocean is really different than in Illinois. In Illinois, we have more of a farmland and dusty smell, not as fresh as the beach air. The first event my family and I decided to do was snorkeling at Destin Harbor. It was pretty exciting and a neat experience. We had to put on goggles, snorkel, and fins. This way we could explore the sea life out in the ocean. My mother found at least six sea crabs, I thought it was neat. Second, my mother and I parasailed at Destin Harbor. We had to arrive early to fill out information and get out group sorted out. I was terrifies and excited all at once. The attendants’ strapped us on securely and then let go of the rope. My mother and I wanted to be dipped, the attendants’ dipped us, it was a relief because it was extremely hot and humid that day. It was so peaceful spending quality time with my mother. We definitely want to go parasailing longer in the

Something I enjoyed was that the sand felt warm on my toes. Lastly, we traveled to Fort Myers Beach. That beach smelled gross! Florida has more buildings than Alabama and taller buildings than Alabama. The reason I like Florida is because it is always warm and most of the time sunny there. The last time I went there was about a year ago. We rode roller coasters for a while then rode go carts, I had a lot of fun when I was there. We got a hotel and I liked looking off the balcony, when we were at the hotel I always got in the hot tub at…

From smelling the salty waters by the Florida Keys, seeing all of the green from the stems of green beans growing, the flavor of the freshest eggs you could get from the coop in the backyard, to the avocado tree growing in the backyard, my trip to Florida had become one of the greatest life experiences I’ve had yet. Visiting Florida taught me many skills on being independent, mentally, and how easy and fun it is just to be to yourself sometimes. It all started Christmas eve when I got home to find my presents from “Santa” there before we even went to bed. My parents had planned on taking a vacation to Florida for Christmas break to see my grandparents, but we were unable to also get my parents there.…
