Personal Narrative: The Joy Of Life

Christopher McCandles once said, “The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, for each day to have a new and different sun. I learned everything that I face in life, makes it a moment to be remembered and a lesson learned.

I remember like it was just yesterday , entering the 6th grade at Young Middle School. When I first got there, I didn't know anyone. That morning we entered the gym sitting by grade levels. The teachers told us to stay in there for an assembly. As we waited for the guest speakers , all I could hear was the JCY pep band playing school spirit songs. The energy that the band had made me what to join.

The next day, I was sitting in the office and I saw the band director Mr. Jefferey come in. As he clocked in, I continued to sit there. He walked over to me and said “Fefe you know how to play an instrument .” I said “yes” “what do you play” said Mr. Jefferey . I replied “Trombone”. So he looked at me and said “oh really ,you get down with the T-bone ? I responded “I know how to play a little bit “, so he said “follow me “. We left the office and went to the band room. I was nervous I didn't know what people would say as I entered the band room.

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

Life is simply perspective. Some say that you have your whole life to do something, while others will argue that life is short and you should enjoy it to the full extent of it’s worth. You can look at something as exquisite, or atrocious. It doesn’t change what it is, but it changes your reaction to it. No matter how sure you are about the morality, someone else could view it differently.…

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

In today's society the average person goes through high school, then repeats the cycle through college, gets their degree and goes out into the “real world”. They meet someone, have a family and move out to the suburbs. That is the path that most americans take throughout their long journey in life. Contradictory to that some of the wealthiest people took the risk of taking their own path and profited very well from it. “Have the courage to follow your own heart and intuition” (Steve Jobs).…

There are many lessons to be learned in life, lessons which are learned through conversations, mishaps, and great experiences. One experience I had was a little bit of all three. It was a conversation, started wrong, but nevertheless ended up being a great experience in which I learned an important lesson, that there are times to give up, and times to not give up, and sometimes even though giving up might seem like the right option, not giving up can lead to great success. My senior year of High school was hectic. Not only did I have the stress that comes from school work, I also started working too, to hopefully get some experience, and also, have some change in my pocket.…
